Forums - Gaming - Battlefield Hardline to use 'same resolution settings' as BF4 on PS4/X1 (900p/720p) - Downgrade

Battlefield Hardline may not hit its 1080p target on PS4 and Xbox One, according to new comments reportedly made by EA.

In a statement provided to Australian site Games.on.net, EA states that Visceral is now aiming to get the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Hardline "playing at 60 FPS using the same resolution settings as [Battlefield 4]".

The news suggests that Hardline will run at 720p on Xbox One and 900p on PS4 – somewhat lower than the previously promised 1080p.

Back at E3, Sony's Adam Boyes said that the game would run at 1080p/60fps on PS4, despite the initial beta running at 900p. Visceral later suggested that the Xbox One version "should" also hit the 1080p target.

While VideoGamer.com had been unable to determine the resolution of today's beta at the time of writing, comments online point to worse-than-expected visuals, with Xbox One users complaining of a "sub 720p" resolution and "murky textures".

"Definitely a step down from BF4," said one Reddit user. "So far I haven't been very impressed with this game."

This shows that the game is unoptimized. If Gta can hit 1080P on both consoles I'm sure this game should have been able to hit 1080P 60fps.

Send a Friend Request On PSN :P

I'd personally rather they just cut the in-game fidelity and target 1080p on both, but 900p with a stable 60fps would certainly be preferable to what we saw in the beta... I think variable frame-rates can be great, but that was taking it a bit far :p

God no, it already looks quite awful for a PS4 game. PS4 beta screenshots from NeoGAF:

The AA on the powerlines in the first 2 pictures makes me wanna cry. I really, really hope this is a really old build of the game.

"target" resolution and FPS are always whatever is the top the console could do... even if the game ends up running in 240i at 10fps...

EDIT: from the pics above, this is one of the worst looking PS4 games so far :-/

It doesn't look great (which makes me wonder why they aren't able to hit a stable 1080p/60fps in the first place), but i'll always take a a pixel perfect resolution over graphics.

That extends to AA too. I'm basically an IQ whore

The beta shows its not a graphical beast. Only hitting 720 and 900 is bad. Game is still fun and runs well

I really need to see the video. Also, what of the Xbox One version. Are there pics? Oh and its the developers fault for insisting they will target 1080p and 60 FPS on both consoles when its still in development. We made a huge stink about Ubisoft, but folks forget that they promised 1080p 60fps as well.

Perhaps its the developers that are boosting our expectations beyond belief... and 720p on Xbox One? Really? At least 343i was smart enough not to make any promises about 1080p for Halo 5. That seems more appropriate.

GTA isn't running at 60fps on consoles though.

If this shows anything it's that people are still overexpecting on what the consoles can achieve. Not every game will be able to hit 1080p60FPS without there being some sacrifices such as how Battlefield 4 ran at 900p/720p etc.

If you really want 1080p they could always just put the game at 30fps, but then people would just complain about that as well.
