When you lose exclusives it gives consumers less of a reason to buy your console, and any short term gains you make off of selling the game on pc would be negated (by a large margin) by the loss of the yearly xbl sub and the platform fees off of any game they buy on your platform. So anyone who says MS is stupid not to put all their games on pc is just downright ignorant of how the business works. The perfect example was the original xbox, it was one as the pc port console and that made its sales suffer greatly.
EDIT: Shika makes another great point, less sales for xbox means less games for xbox owners, again og xbox was another example, because ps2 was so far ahead of the xbox in terms of sales PS2 got WAY more 3rd party exclusives. Now before I am done let me make one more point. If porting all your exclusives to pc was the "smart decision" why don't Sony and Nintendo port their games to PC? |
@ bolded but if you already HAVE the system and you ARE getting the games how do them going to PC effect you personally which was my question
Yall have no proof that this will effect any games coming to Xone, MS WILL make games for their system and im willing to bet 3rd parties are going to continue as well since they are making the PS4 version anyway so why not just make the ONE version which is easy and make a few bucks? PS2 is a bad example as PS4 wont have the lead that system had. No matter what happens. Not to mention MS themselves pulled the plug on OG xbox
No one said they were porting all the exclusives and even if they did so what? again how does that effect someon who already has the system. NInty actually MAKES money on their HW and SW so no need for them to deal with PC anyway. Sony actually do have a few games that are on both. Hell they have their own SOE division which deal mostly with PC games, when it makes sense to do so. So Sony does do it. Maybe Xone isnt going to make the money that they want it to make. They already had to change so much in a short amount of time. Its not even the system they originally wanted it to be. They had to cut stuff and price to stay afloat, pretty sure they didnt want to do that.
All in all maybe MS own forecast is telling them they are NOT going to make money on their HW or not the amount they want to so they have to make up ofr it in SW
