Today is the 16th anniversary of the Super Smash Bros. series, and with Super Smash Bros. Melee and For Wii U recently announced for EVO 2015, I wanted to know what your favorite game in the Super Smash Bros. franchise is.

My pick would have to be Super Smash Bros. Melee.

While Melee is considered a "fluke" or "accident" for what it is today, the game featured fast-paced gameplay, with many different techiques to learn, including wavedashing, L-canceling, dash dancing, short-hopping, and many more. The game while fairly simple to pick up, is difficult to master, and people still play this game competitively, with the scene continuing to grow.

Melee is also one of the main reasons why the Fire Emblem franchise got released outside of Japan, with the inclusion of characters, Marth and Roy.

Don't think I'll ever be able do decide between Melee and Brawl.

I get what u r saying, but I prefer Smash Bros WiiU. They basically made the game way more balanced. No more annoying Fox and Sheik players or those dirty ledge techniques. Everything is now fixed and better with more characters.

I have to go with Melee because of it's speed but Wii U is in a close second, despite all of the hate that it gets in the competitive community. Melee had great speed and mechanics that just happened to be exploitable and some great stages.

EDIT: If you ever made this thread in YouTube or something, all it would do is start a huge war.

It gets hate? I thought they were pretty happy with the game, at least compared to Brawl.

From what I've seen, most people, including competitive players are overall happy with Smash Wii U, but there are still some "Melee elitists" out there who pretty much can never be pleased, unless they make another Smash game EXACTLY like Melee.

No, there are still attacks on the game.  People do consider it a step up from Brawl in the competitive side yes, but there are some who are indifferent to it, or the YouTube comments section only shows off the worst of a community.  Personally, I still find it fun.

Of course it gets hate, it's not Melee.

However, it gets a lot less hate than Brawl, and even then the little hate it gets comes from a small minority. I think when you look at the bigger picture Smash 4 is developing quite the competitive scene for itself.

Oh, that's cool. I don't think anyone in the competitive scene was honestly expecting it to replace Melee.

YouTube comments are always terrible. No matter the subject.

OT: My heart still goes to Brawl right now, but Wii U could take its place as I play it more with VGC members. For Glory is fun to have but the flat stages got old quick.

Signature goes here!

Oh, but you're wrong. If they ever made another game EXACTLY like Melee, which is what all of these elitists supposedly want, they'll start saying it's not as good as Melee and Nintendo will never be able to make another game as good as that.

But thankfully this is a minority.

Yeah, if this was a majority of the community, competitive Smash would probably be dead already.
