Forums - Nintendo Discussion - It's only fair if Metroid skips the Wii U

Nintendo has many beloved IP's that sell in the mid range but Nintendo chooses not to release them every gen. I suppose this is because the sales just aren't worth it. These include Pikmin, Star Fox, F-Zero, Yoshi, and Metroid among others.

Last gen we got 2 Metroid games on Wii. Wii didn't have Pikmin & Star Fox. Only fair that Metroid gets skipped in order to bring them to Wii U. Same with Yoshi. Next gen, F-Zero can return along with Metroid but for now, why should it get special treatment?

Now, some might say Retro does Metroid which is why it should return. Well, Retro is doing Diddy Kong so...maybe next time?

I know a lot of people want a new FPS Metroid made by Retro for Wii U
But I honestly want a new 2D game for 3DS, the last 2D Metroid was Fusion from 2002 right?

No, the Wii U needs all the help it can get since 3rd parties are nonexistent. They better gimme my Metroid.

Until I get a Metroid game on Wii U I will cry myself to sleep everynight :(

So we're forgetting that the N64 got Starfox, Yoshi and F-Zero but no Metroid? =P
And the Gamecube got of all those (minus Yoshi, but really who gives a damn), so it's all balanced now.

How about Nintendo makes all of these games? They are a bigger company than they were in the N64 era. Metroid wasn't made then because they didn't know how to do it. All of the series you mentioned are going to be released this year or early next year. Definitely enough time left in the Wii U's life to make a Metroid game and an F-Zero game.

The Wii had Little King's Story and Sin & Punishment 2 to hold people over, now Nintendo also needs to appease Metroid fans on the Wii U..

I personally think that Metroid Prime 4 and *possibly* Mario Galaxy 3 will be the anchor games for Wii U in 2016, with support from other titles obviously.  F-Zero would be great to see, especially as a show piece.  I could easily see the Wii U getting a Metroid and F-Zero game as well as other IP like Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Pokken Tournament, etc.

ORly?

But anyway, there have been two metroid games per system since the gamecube. This is the longest metroid drought we've had since Super Metroid->Metroid Prime
