Not sure about gaming... We are still far away from a decent concept to have it really likeable... But lag less motion control supported by accurate voice control in s anything but dead... And will pick up in other fields than gaming and will eventually comeback... Like touch did...

Now one thing for sure Kinect is hands down the fastest most convenient way to control living room devices and should never be abandoned in that regard..

Deep Down I believe that PS Camera was supposed to be bundled with the PS4 Day One, but they dropped it after Microsoft conference to gain even more upper hand, cutting down the price. That is why the was the robots inside the controller thing, and all, it was clearly projected to be there day one.

If they could have made proper use of it and made a must have along with it, it probably could have been very good. It was the only reason I was interested in an X1 but I was waiting to see if it was going to be utilized.

This gen they will likely abandon it. MS tends to react to the biggest competition on the marketplace and so far it's the PS4 which is fairly bare bones. If by some chance the Wii U were to overtake both they would probably bring it back in one form or another in an attempt to compete, same as they did with the 360 to compete with the Wii.

I'm still sad they have removed it. It was more VR than VR is and they could have done some great stuff with it in a game like Gears of War with a ducking mechanic and even telling your squad directives like "fallback", "attack", "flank them", "cover me" or any others. Could have been great with a rainbow 6 as well. Lost possibilities if you ask me.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Many people believe deep down that Sony was going to do many unpopular things that Microsoft got called out for (like force bundling camera, physical disc DRM, always online, 24-hour parole officer check-in, region locking...), just so they can justify all the anti-consumer bull that Microsoft tried to sell them as the future of entertainment.

I guess it makes them feel better about themselves at the end of the day. And as with all beliefs, I have nothing against it.

Yeah, true, not different from people that deep down believe that Sony is so consumer friendly and really thinks about the gamers, instead of facing that it was a pure strategical counter move that was successful.

That's what I was always saying. Gamers are extremely lucky that Sony executives were actualy in touch with reality, and knew that countering the anti-consumer moves will bring them more sales and more credibility than just siding with Microsoft in an attempt to destroy console gaming.

That's why I'm glad that they wisely spent those 6 hours between conferences editing their Powerpoint presentation to strategically counter every stupid move MS made. Their gamble paid off in the end.

not trying to troll or anything. but that really seems to be its future.

They do the same in other departments, that's why they got their ass whooped by Apple/Google in mobile.

It's a chicken and egg dilemma that only strong 1st party SW support could push towards a happy solution.

They still haven't been able to make one game that appeals to their core audience. Meanwhile the ps4 supports voice commands through the bundled headset or a much cheaper camera. I wonder how many people actually use gestures to control the menus on XBox One.

All this promise of Kinect 2.0 being able to read your emotions, heart rate etc and adjust gameplay based on that was all hot air again. Same with ps4 eye anyway. What's happened with the stereo camera so far, nothing. It's popular for broadcasting, yet you only need 1 camera for that.

Maybe it has a future when VR becomes popular. It could allow you to manipulate virtual control panels floating in front of you. Although that was already tried with Steel Battalion without success. Rendering your arms in VR could be cool if it works as well as gladiator duel in Sports Champions.
