Forums - Sony Discussion - 8 days playing FFXIV: A realm reborn, I love it, BUT

At least the way i`m playing it, it looks more like a single player FF than a MMO. I`m in the free trial period and once it ends im buying the full version, but it looks like the game has little social interactions, at least for now, i`m doing the main quest and other side-quests, and in level 10 I cant say i`ve met anyone in game, i even try to talk through the chat sometimes but nobody answers, so, does it get better with the full version?

Anyway, its the best FF game i`ve played since FFX, and best MMO too, because leveling isnt a pain in the ass like Ragnarok, the most useless MMO out there.

I like MMO with good worlds exploring, a Main Quest that adds story to the game and not masochist grinding. Ragnarok had no worlds to explorer and nothing to do but grind.

I am doing the 14 day trial (although i have playing different betas like 3 times already) and its good. The game looks great, the music is fantastic and the fighting, while a bit slow for me, is nice enough. I like that is position elements to it that keeps you moving and not just standing in one place the entire time (unless you're killing low level monsters)

It's nice that I don't have to kill 100+ whatevers to level, as there are plenty of levemetes. guildmetes, quests, etc to help you grind to it. My biggest gripe is the color for the armor. Holy shit, some of those colors are hideous. I need to find a way to change colors cause it is killing me.

EDIT: I believe one of the restrictions for the trial is that you cannot chat with other members, hence why you can't interact much.

I played the game and loved it up till the mandatory missions where you have to take part in a duty of 4 people... I got my character to level 35 and ended up not taking it further due to being unable to complete one duty.

The people I got paired with were less than nice also, blaming me for us failing when it was them not healing when they should... Apart from the duties the game was Great!

You can't interact with others in the free trial version i think.

Anyway, i bought the game yesterday... but i can't play it, because psn is down.

:(

I`m playing it on PC, my early 2012 studio XPS is holding the game well. The best FF in years.

Its a great game, that is good because u dont have to grind like a sob to lev-up. Also though if your not someone who is going to play alot and i mean alot, and who does not take the jobs they play seriously u might end up hating the game, when u get to lev 50 and the end game stuff. And the reason being is that there is alot of ppl who do take the jobs they play very serious and know their jobs in and out, and if u dont and mess up. They will let u know and if u die often will quit and move on. The first time i played ff14:a realm reborn, i leveled to lev 50 and did some end game quests and went for my books for the job i was playing and the way some ppl were in being a jerk it put me off of the game, and i quit for 5 months before i rejoined and started over on a new server and have been playing since with a great guild and ppl, sometimes u just need to find the right group and when u do the game is awesome.

The main story is more single player oriented except where you have to do dungeons. The end game content and economy however is very MMO. Great game and great MMO. Taking a break myself but I will likely be back during the next draught for the new content.

In just had a glance at the free trial limitations, and it would certainly seem you're rather restricted in regards to social features. The biggest limitation is that you aren't aloud to join a Free Company (guild), which would normally be the primary way you meet other players. When you get the full version, it shouldn't take you long to find an FC. There's always plenty of them looking for new members ^^

On a side note, you'll get a lot of chances to play with others in dungeons/trials/raids, but you don't start unlocking them until you're level 15.

What I`m liking the most is i`m already level 10 in eight days, whitout having to make any crazy gaming sessions or nothing. It grinds like a solo RPG, wich i`m finding great, the fine tuning for hardcore players should come from equips, not levels. What I find even better is that isn`t any penalty in dying, in Tibia you lose all yours equips and one level, and in Ragnarok you lose 1% of xp to the next level, wich is a hell of amount in higher levels.

@invetedlotus123, the reason ff14 doesnt have a death penalty is because of all the crap they got for ff11 having that penalty and u deleveling if u were barely over a lev.
