Almost a year.

so you might can send it in.

you don't have a warranty on the system?

Also Xbox is having great sales going on, specially target. You could buy a xbox one, Save the $70 gift card and buy a wii u when it comes in, unless they already have one.

Thats unfortunate.
Tell Nintendo about it now before the warranty is over.

Did you try contacting Nintendo about it (that is probably a stupid question on my part). Just realize that it is only a gaming device and should not be your source of joy in the world. Those friends you have will still be your friends. Your loved ones are still your loved ones. Your pet is still your pet (if you have one). I personally have struggled with gaming addiction in the past and have gone through points of depression when I lose the thing I'm addicted to. For example, I used to be ADDICTED to world of warcraft (back when the game was actually good with Burning Crusade) but my mother forced me to stop playing once she found out I was buying monthly time cards for it (I was in 8th-9th grade at the time) and I had to go a long time without it. I was so frustrated by it and bitter and depressed that I ended up quitting video games altogether for a while (that ended when my mother told me she didn't mean to make me quit games altogether). The next issue I had was when my account was hacked. I ended up getting the account back, but then it was hacked a 2nd time shortly after and I just decided that maybe this was my wake up call to get off that drug so I never even attempted to retrieve my account after it got hacked the 2nd time. It's better to not be attached to games or gaming devices to the point that it makes you want to rage on everything or get depressed. It is WAY easier said than done (as I pointed out is true for myself in my past). Sorry for the long anecdote.

Man, I'm sorry. :( That's really an unfortunate situation. If I had any experience with this, I would let you know. I really hope you find a solution and get it fixed relatively soon, especially since the holidays are around the corner.

That sucks dude!! I never experienced any problems on really any Nintendo consoles so for it to happen to you or anything really does suck. I hope you find a way to replace it but yea, you probably won't get it back till the second week of January at minimum! Hopefully its under warranty so the repair will be free but apart from that, can't really say anything else other than, shit happens and hope you can make the best of it

I still find it too strange to be the case. I'm pretty sure this thing always had dust for quite a while, yet it only stops working after the day I take the console out. Also, while there was A LOT of dust in some parts of it, the fan in the back was really clean compared to the rest. I dunno... I rebooted it and it didn't need me blowing it to work. I'm going to test it out now, try to get it on and running SSB and hopefully it won't let me down after 5 minutes (it shouldn't, but who knows).

If I really just fixed it like that - by literally blowing on it (and I didn't even try blowing too hard), this will have been the most awkward relief ever.

Yea well certainly let us know how it goes! Maybe what happened was that there was enough dust to keep the fan from spinning but when u blew on it, even lightly, it was enough to get the fan to move again! But obviously, idk for sure. For all we know, it may have caught something along the way like maybe a bug went into the vents or something! I do suggest cleaning the dust filter at the bottom of the wiiU when u get a chance cause that can certainly get very dusty and block the airflow. Just make sure when u blow on it, dont spit or else that might cause more problems (no sexual meaning intended loll)
