Because winning is the only thing that matters?

of course it's not.. but losing momemtum to your competitor matters....thus sometimes affecting your sales profit.

Being close to your competitor while demolishing them worldwide is much better for sales profit than risking everything for just one country...

Lol you make usa sound like a very irrelevant country.

What were they supposed to do? Keep up with demand, sell exact the amount they expected to while making a nice bit of money OR lower the prices to compete with another console, lose millions in profits, just to win 1 month in the US?

Hmm, pie.

I am an early x1 adopter and I am pissed that they are giving their console away in less than a years time. Even with that its not like they blew Sony away, estimates are indicating a 300k-400k monthly lead in the US. F*** Microsoft, I will never buy another console from them at launch ever again

They certainly are devaluing there own product at a rapid rate, unlike the ps4. Must be a kick in the teeth for some early adopters such as yourself.

If we trust VGChartz' numbers, they are still winning worldwide, and they didn't have to sacrifice profits per console for that.

Well compared to every country except the US, it kind of is.

True but this thread is about npd usa. not worldwide

Xbox winning ONE month is not a failure for Sony. Do they have to win every month to be considered a success to people?

Maybe MS will give early adopters some XBL credit to make up for this? I mean who would´ve guessed 6 months ago that you could essentially get a one for 330$ (170$ less) with 2 games? However as an early adopter there´s always the risk of huge pricedrops.

Yup...RO friggin rocked

Thread never said it was a failure..

the  poll is up and is very clear.

One territory for one month...I don't think Sony will be too worried. America is not the centre of the world.

More like fastest selling console of all time with 7M lead, does not need to make rash reactions to temporary competitor promotions.
