Forums - Gaming Discussion - Has Sony's arrogance cost them november npd?

Did sony do enough to win november NPD?

Nah 291 38.96%

Yes 130 17.40%

They can't lower their p... 242 32.40%

xbox one is the future of the USA. 82 10.98%

Total:745

Nope, no need for them to lower it yet. Still outsold the One worldwide, which tells you that people are willing to pay more for what is in my opinion, the premium console, this gen. Awesome to see Microsoft selling well this month, congrats to them for November NPD!! They are finally putting up a fight, but how long can they keep the price drop for though?

*shrug*

Winning November as a token prize is pretty pointless for Sony, who have an enormous and comfortable worldwide lead. They'd rather not devalue their product like MS have been dramatically forced to do.

so one month out of 12 is a win!

Now hear me out.

Sony knew this holiday MS was going to be very aggressive  in the USA. MS gave great bundle to consumers @ at sweet price of 349 and even 329 during black friday.

Yes, Sony did have the black friday bundles..but it seems they went into november thinking the PS4 HYPE will get them the victory regardless of the prices this holiday season.. Sony refuse to drop the price to be competitive.

I have said this many many times.. price matters..

We can go as far as to say ps4 got such an early lead in the USA because of the 399 price.. [ of course there are many who still think that price has nothing to do with it]

Anyways.. Poll is up.. vote..

Did sony do enough to win November [ one of the biggest npd of the year]?

How many Consoles have sold 850 -900k NPD in Nov? What year in thier life cycle was it done? Did they have thier direct competitor increase the value of thier system by as much as $330? Yeah they took it on the chin pretty good and yet they dont seem phased at all. Lets see how Dec shapes up

One thing that I have not seen mentioned was that the Yen has been seriously weakened in the past year. That makes any sales of Japanese products overseas bring in larger profits. SONY could permanently drop the price by the 20% the Yen has risen in just the last 6 months.

Yet SONY has made such a huge deal out of PS4 sales that to drop the price would undermine their assumption that the PS4 is the clear winner and needs no other incentive to sell. This arrogance could hurt them if it continues.

What if they did drop the price but then the Yen suddenly shot up or the Dollar weakened a lot? They wouldn't be able to put the price back up and they could have big problems with that. Is it really worth that big a gamble when they will sell a lot even at their current price?

I haven't got a link to this but i remember  an article talking about the weakening yen and how it had helped Nintendo more than Sony mainly because Sony Had sometime before converted a lot more of it's revenue to $US  to offset the high yen.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

No, because on a WW basis Sony has nothing to be worried about.

I am pretty sure sony does not care much at all about MS winning a month.

Probably cant produce enough for a lower price, Else someone should step down.
