Forums - Gaming Discussion - Exclusive games!

With the announcement of SFV being exclusive (and I'm sorry for any spelling errors ahead of time, I'm very sleep deprived) I've seen people complain because of a game not coming to Xbox One, or PS4.

We saw very much, last generation, just about every 3rd party game come out on both PS3 and 360.

But now, we're going back to a time with those exclusive games.  Some people like it.  Some people hate it.  What do you think?

I think it's good.  It gives people a reason to own both consoles without feeling like one is just a reskin of the other.  Sure, I have a PS3.  But how many of the 120 or so games I had were also readily available on 360?  At least 70 of them.  Hopefully Xbox One will get it's own set of exclusives.  I don't know if Capcom said it, but SF being considered a playstation platform, it's almost a lock that Resident evil will be an exclusive game as that game to me is a PS game.  Not Street Fighter.

Street Fighter III was on dreamcast.  Not PS1.  SFII, the definitive Turbo edition, was on SNES.  Only the alpha and EX games were on PS hardware.

Let's, for the sake of the thread assume Xbox One is to get more real exclusives.  No, Tomb Raider doesn't count.  Not referring to timed exclusives.

exclusives are great.

3rd party exclusives (especially establish previously multiplat frachises) suck balls. as a consumer i'm not looking for a reason to buy $1100 in gaming hardware to play the games i want. i'm looking for one console that plays the games i want.

I care about exclusivity when the purpose behind it is to push the hardware to its limits and gives the developer quality time to refine the game as much as possible through focused development process. Other than that, I couldn't care less for exclusivity.

exclusivity bring more attention to the franchise

exclusivity is good if the games coming for the powerful console (so it can be optimez)

exclusivity is good and deserved if the system of choice gain more then 60% market share

why you buy a lot of console if u have one console to rule them all.

Street Fighter gain main stream audience on SNES but gain more with PS1 and Saturn.

A shitload of japanese games were ps3 exclusives last gen, mostly rpgs. Japanese people do want to support Sony, but Sony was the underdog last gen. Now that they are the undisputed winner this gen, I believe many Japanese devs want to scratch Sony's back.

I doubt Sony gave Capcom money for this exclusive, they have to watch their cashflows. My guess is Sony guarantees Capcom a sales number, let's say 6 million units. And then all Sony has to do is market the hell out of a SF5 ps4 bundle. With the momentum PS4 has right now, this is an easy win-win for both Sony and Capcom.

If it's a PS4 exclusive, then I think it's great because I already own it.
If it's an XOne exclusive, then it sucks big time, because I'm surely not spending money on another console that's similar but inferior...

I like it to be honest. Exclusive seems to bring better console games as resources dont have to be spread and developers can focus only on getting the game to work and be the best possible on the platform they are releasing it for, instead of juggling it between two.

Frankly there is no reason to like limiting who can play games. I can give 1st party games a pass, but paying someone to not release a game on a system is retarded.

At least MS will get a taste of their own medicine. Don't think this is over folks, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony bought a few more big ones within a year.

I'm thinking more like this. I doubt Sony paid any money. Noi need. In the regions where Street Fighter is biggest, it will be an absolute shutout win for the PS4. Also, a moneyhat would be for full exclusivity, not a shared property with PC (also why I believe this will remain console exclusive on PS4, regardless of the Supers, Ultras, and Super Dupers).

I called this a few months back - that the PS4 would start seeing 3rd party exclusives more and more (although, I meant full, but this is getting there). I expect a few more before the gen is over, big ones.

And you know that it was not moneyhatting where capcom demanded at least a PC version because of what exactly?

If I am capcom and someone wants my game I am dictating the rules not the other company.  Console gamers dont care about PCs for the most part otherwhise noone would buy a console version if the PC port is superior.

Sony probably also does not care because Sony also makes PC games. (not SCE tho)

Honesty there is a bunch of hypocrites on VgChartz. When X1 gets an exclusive its all thats not fair to Playstation fans and MS must of spent a shit ton of money. When Sony gets one its all GOOD JOB SONY. You guys are funny.
