Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS4 will undercut Xbox One in China, reports claim

Reports in the Chinese media suggest that PS4 will launch at a lower price than Xbox One.

Kotaku reports that various Chinese outlets reckon that Sony will launch the console at CNY 2,999 (£310). The base Xbox One costs CNY 3,699 (£382) while the Kinect version costs CNY 4,299 (£444).

Sony is expected to reveal a release date for the machine in China this month, with 50 games apparently being prepped for launch – although fears remain that, as with Xbox One, many of these titles may take some time to make it to market and won’t arrive alongside the hardware.

Xbox One is said to have enjoyed a strong launch in China, although pre-release data suggested that interest in PS4 in the region was higher.

The PS4 has to date undercut Xbox One at launch in every single territory in which the pair have released, although some fierce pricing wars in territories such as the UK have more or less drawn the machines parallel.

Both have been widely available at or around £300 this Black Friday weekend in the UK, for instance, and you can expect more of the same in the run-up to Christmas.

Xbox One launched at £429 and PS4 at £349 in the UK.

From what the polls have been telling, the PS4 is viewed more favorably by the Chinese that the Xbox One. So even with parity I expect the console to sell over 200k in it's first week.

Will most likely lead to a massive expansion in the PS4 lead.

well i am not saying this thread is a counter measure for Xbox one win Black Friday win in Uk, should we just wait for another more hours . It just look like PS fans desperate or negative. but then again is your freedom thou

on topic, both console is published by the same company,  so i guess there is no competition there. but then again i wonder if PS4 is region lock or not, if not then most of gamers  will choose PS4 and Asian's is Asians and games like JRPG still popular, but for Main China land they also like MMO and free to play games.

it all depends on the release date.
if its just summer 2015, the ps4 is alreday 1 1/2 year old and could be cheaper for sure.
and even 3/4 year older than the xb1 in China.

but maybe they release in february and 2999 would be a very good price

Sony will be busy in December.

well they are limiting the number any manufacturer can release officially and being a pain in the arse on censorship and region locking.

well its their culture why should a game like battlefield 4 being released where china is the bad and america the good? Second they arent limiting the quantitys, they are only allowing it in shanghai free trade zone to be sold thats not limiting the quantity of the consoles.
