So much wrong with thread title and the extrapolation/insinuation in relation to the misleading thread title.

Just a little bit of grown up insight into this revelation. For the last 3 weeks amazon/retailers have been directing people to the AC bundle as the default SKU so i wouldnt put much weight into it being the "only" SKU available.

I mean, based on online retailers the One has been cleaning the PS4 clock all month, getting in a tizzy about it (again) somewhat confuses me.

It must be horribly exhausting the way people get so worked up based on such fast moving, largely unable to quantify numbers. It is like the weekly charts here on steroids. Just wait a few weeks for the reality of NPD.

And I am sure I will get moderated/banned for saying this (again) but it is borderline irresponsible for people with site credentials to post these ridiculous threads (implying MSFT has shipped and sold 10 million consoles) and only perpetuates this websites reputation problem.

To be fair. They said over 10m shipped
They just used the word soon. And today it's 16 days after that annoucement

And don't you think they might have included their entire holiday shipment i nthat "soon" terminoligy. So they are just as likely to be over that number now as they are to be at that number come Jan 1st.

The point of the annoucement was to mis lead people and create hype. Countless news sites reported it like they'd sold 10M to consumers and Seece is another example of a person making it appear to be true. That is the aim of MS PR. It's worked as well.

WHat I find funny though is when Sony announced over 10M in actual consumer hands so many doubted that. It's like polar opposites when it comes to double  standards.

I'm not sure if the 360 will really have that much of an impact on XBO sales. Xbox has always been pretty big in America and the dominate brand has shifted quite a few times too. The PS4 is still holding it's ground despite all the bundles and pricecuts the XBO has had lately.

Well I think those 360 owners that haven't converted yet are still in play and I think this is why we are seeing such a huge boost on the X1 this holiday season. They were just waiting for a good deal.

The X1 can erase that 1M lead by the PS4. So we'll see how both did when NPD comes out. However, if the PS4 ends up close to the X1 numbers then my dreams will all shatter into dust. @_@

No. I always thought about it as the fist big batch and expect a second one.
December is always bigger than November. So u need to ship for December sales again.

And if we estimate  ~7.5m Xb1 shipped until end of September, 2.5m for holiday quarter would be horrible low
They obviously wanted the 10m figure in theire pr, because its a nice number to announce. And u can't mislead your shareholder with wrong shipment numbers, so they went with "over 10m sold in soon". And the don't want to mislead anyone. That's a stupid thought. They just want to sound as positive as possible, while being still legally honest. Thats how pr works.

if they didn't want to mislead anyone they would have said, currently we have sold just under 8M to consumers instead of saying 10M shipped soon. Why do you defend that so much? It's just pure and utter misleading spin.

Because it's no spin.
Are business outlooks spins? When u estimate how much u will sell, ur margin and profits?
As i said. They wanted that 10m figure and sound as positive as possible. And the knew they will have shipped 10m units, soon. So they said that.

When u go into a job interview, do u shout out the ugly truth, or do u try to make urself look postive?
That's how it work. If u know that, its easy to deal with it and know to read between the lines

To be fair what? You think by that they meant there were exactly at 10 million when they made that non-announcement and that they would therefore be over 10 million soon, meaning the very next day?

What they announced, but in a positive spin way, was in fact that they had not yet shipped 10 million, but that they would get to 10 million at some undetermined future date which was not too far away but could be anything from a week to a month to just before the end of the year, but probably not longer than that. It all depends on what you define as soon.

I wouldn't trust the "Out of Stock" that you see online, especially for Walmart. Tonight I wanted to buy Shadow of Mordor and it showed no more in stock online and no ability to do site to store or in-store pickup.

I think they did this to make people need to visit the stores tonight and tomorrow. They even set up the stores with lines that actually weave throughout sections of the store filled with sale items, which is an obvious ploy to spur impulse buys.

I could be wrong, but it is 100% how it looked to me tonight.

Went for Shadows of Mordor, ended up Shadows of Mordor for me and a Christmas impulse buy for daughter, Disney Infinity 2.0 Toy Box (Comes with Stitch and Merida) and Elsa, Rapunzel and Tinkerbell figures... jeez. Thank goodness it was on sale for $37, down from $75, and the individual figures for $9, down from $15.

OK by that logic Sony has shipped 20M soon. Coem on man you're caught up in that MS spin yourself. You're making me get all dizzy rascal!
