Square Enix has had a strong six month period as profits more than double for the period ending September 30, 2014. Square Enix has also raised its full year forecast, due to the stronger than expected sales.
Revenue for the six month period increased 18 percent year-over-year to ¥73.1 billion ($638 million), from ¥61.7 billion ($537.9 million). Profits jumped to ¥5.7 billion ($49.8 million), from ¥2.6 billion ($22.7 million).
The Digital Entertainment division revenue increased 43 percent year-over-year to ¥43.8 billion ($382 million). Profits increased 130 percent to ¥7.9 billion ($69 million).
Square Enix has stated that its two MMOs, Final Fantasy XIV and Dragon Quest X, have had strong performances. They also mentioned good sales of its smartphone games Dragon Quest Monsters Super Lightand Schoolgirl Strikers.
Due to the strong sales Square Enix has increased its forecast for the full fiscal year. Revenue has been increased by ¥10 billion to between ¥150 billion and ¥160 billion. Expected profits has been increased by ¥4 billion to between ¥7 billion and ¥10 billion.
