Wii will be more popular than the ps4 after 3 years. PS4 will easily sell more lifetime though.

There been some awesome necro bumps, you would know well.  Looks as most are to chicken to take the risk but man if i win LOL so many are gonna eat crow.

The Wii. I can see the PS4 trundling past the Wii in the long run, but i don't think it has a chance in hell of getting to 50m faster than it did. I'm surprised it's managed to stay ahead for this long, especially given the current state of Japan's home console market.

I will say Wii but i won't be surprised if ps4 hit it first

PS4, because...

- It will absorbe a huge bunch of the gaming community that won't buy a WiiU or Xbox One, but bought a Wii and/or X360 back then.
- 8 gen still had to fight with 7 gen systems in 2014, anywhere close to what 7 gen had to battle in 2007 with 6th gen systems, and still PS4 sold the same or more than Wii in its first year.
- Most games right now are cross-gen, so most people still didn't have a real reason to jump in the next gen, but they'll have in 2015 and 2016.
- Because 2014 has been one of the worst years in gaming quality in my opinion, but it will be followed by one of their best
- and last but not least, because PS4 has been proving naysayers everytime they're wrong, because suddenly, the company that manufactured 160m consoles with ps2, now can't produce 20-25 mill in a year with ps4....pssst.

Funny but people dont see that PS4 is matching wii with out Japan.

Im betteing on Japan to help PS4 achive that 50m, slowpoke sales will change with some games.  DQ hack an slash will start the climb, MGS FF and others will continue it.  While Sony them selves have shown Asia sales are out pacing PS2, and we all can see what PS4 is doing in Europe.  

I think it all depends on what kind of "resistance" X1 will put up... But I'm gonna say that Wii will win in the short term, but that PS4 will outsell it long term.

I think the Wii will have hit 50m quicker. It had a greater peak period than I expect the PS4 will hit sales-wise, though I think PS4 will sustain its sales better over the long haul.
