Forums - General Discussion - Obama's Veep, who do you think it will be?

Now that Obama seems to be leading in Texas polls and is likely to take the nomination who do you think his veep choice will be?

I'm thinking Chuck Hagel, or Michael Bloomberg or Jim Webb, since he's going to want someone who appeals to independents and moderate Republicans (Hagel would be especially strong here because as a Republican it would reinforce Obama's message of unity and transcending partisanship), and someone who has enough experience to assuage fears that he's too naive/inexperienced for the white house (Bloomberg would be great on the economic side while Webb a former secretary of the Navy and a vietnam vet would look good on the defense/security/ foriegn affairs side).

i am interested in seeing how avinash will turn this into a discussion about the wii, because much like in every thread he posts in, he inevitably will.

Bill Richardson.

Obama is not at his strongest in the Southwest, ignoring Texas. Bill would help him appeal to Hispanics and others in that general area.

John Edwarads... I don't really know, as I don't follow politics, but I know that he ran with Kerry after he dropped out of that race, the same thing may happen again.

I don't know, Edwards doesn't seem to have much pull in the south, and he didn't endorse Obama when he pulled out of the race

Janet Napolitano.

1. Female 2. From the Southwest 3. Term limited in 2010 4. Charismatic 5. Knows her shit.

I don't think it's for sure but I think it's a very real possibility.

On the flipside I could picture him pullling in someone like Wes Clark to counteract claims of his lack of experience on foreign policy stuff.

Edwards is irrelevant, not going to happen.

Yeah. John Edwards waited too long. He wanted to play king maker but wanted to make sure the person he backed actually won. He waited too long and now he's screwed.

The again it could of waited too long because he has more important things to worry about.
