Why not, I dunno, make the game as a new IP with new characters?

Because spin offs are generally more viable? I'd love to see some development of the less well known Nintendo characters.

What? No, the only guns Captain Falcon uses are the ones attached to his shoulders. He would be better suited to a third-person character action game, not a first-person shooter. WTF are you thinking.

If you're desperately trying to find a new genre for F-Zero, I think its cast would work well for a traditional fighting game. But we don't have to look for a new genre. F-Zero is a racing game and it's okay for it to continue to be a racing game. Nintendo can have more than one racing game per platform you know.
