But... it not trying to do stupid 'innovaty' things is why it's so good. I don't want useless 'innovative' crap, I just want a good games console, ya know.

But...Kapi

I like innovation when used correctly. I encourage it but yeah, the PS4 is perfectly fine without it

Although, I do hope that PS Now is expanded on & the VR thing is actually worthwhile

Maybe it's winning because, apparently, people just don't care for gimmicky control options and prefer a decent gpu instead?

PS4

-The first console to have a constantly recording option so you can record your gameplay and share it on the web
-The first controller to have a Touchpad that works as a button at the same time
-The first console with an upcoming VR headset
-The First console that will let you play other friends games on their systems through shareplay and that will transform local MP into online MP

Sony not only made a console that had unique not before seen features (on a console) but is still adding them, since Shareplay will come soon in Update 2.00 and VR headset could come next year

Yeah the PS4 is soooo LAME.... /S.

Edit: you can also play your PS4 games on a Vita or a PSTV through Remote play...

the touchpad, imo, is nothing to brag about.  we'll see about VR but i'm not very optomistic..

..but shareplay if even only half of what they advertise is going to be amazing.  best yet is actually a useful feature unlike kinect.  there are tons of games (especially indies) that have local co-op but no net-code.   shareplay brings ps4-exclusive online modes to these games which is awesome.   hell, for games like ebb and obb i wish i had shareplay despite the native online-mode because the game's online mode was sooo laggy that shareplay just has to be better.

Neither is the Kinect 2.0 in my opinion, afterall its an update to a peripherial that got bad receptions by the public last gen, but hey he mentioned it in the OP so it must mean that any sort of innovation might count, also i agree shareplay sounds amazing, in fact too amazing to be true (which is what i used to think with remoteplay but that one ended up working so it gives me good hopes for shareplay).

Well yah, obviously it is the one with less innovative (sucessful or not features) for now. But like someone mention, it is very early and Sony will be coming with some innovative stuffs like Now and the virtual reality headset.

But who says you need to be innovative to be sucessful? Actually, it is riskier. Look at Apple and their iPhone/iPad line year after year :)

That's being said, the PS4 while not being the most innovative is the most powerfull one, so it is certainly a good part of its success.

PS4 has Now and Morpheus to come.
Kinect 2.0 was so successful that despite repeated promises, MS took only half a year to unbundle it.
Wii U Gamepad is ok but is under utilized in almost two years.

For PS4 don't forget SharePlay. The fact that you can turn every couch co-op mode into online co-op without the other person having the game is pretty big IMO. Also the fact that you can give a friend control of any game for up to 60 minutes at a time is nice and something not available on any other platform.

How are any of these "first" features anything to really brag about though?

Touchpad as a button? Only thing I remember using that for was the absorb smoke and other powers in Infamous SS, and even that could be used as a button. VR headsed is something that hasn't been tested yet. Seems just as about unnesstial as the Kinect. Companies need to stop "innovating" for the sake of it.

My sentiment exactly. Innovation (if you can call it that) for the sake of innovation is pointless, and can often back fire quite dramatically if people don't want the spoon you're trying to force feed them with.

Build a good console, then worry about 'new' ideas like Project Morpheus or PSNow later. MS in particular would probably be doing a lot better if they'd focused on the X1 itself, and then moved their attention to Kinect 2 and their online concepts later. Then if people don't like something, you don't need to worry about it weighing you down.

do u know how new iphones get sold?
they are the most lame Upgrades, too

thats how it work to get ur fanbase to buy ur stuff over and over agaian

Which is why I love it. To me the SNES and PS2 are the gold standards for consoles and a big part of that was they felt like continuations and refinements with focus on games.

I like that I don't have to buy the camera I have no interest in, but I can take advantage of remote play on my Vita which is amazing to me. Sony seems to throw out options and let people choose if they want all, some, or none of them.

PS4 is lame, with it's best games being rehashes. Also agree, nothing new to add to gameplay that's been implemented at all, nor will it ever.
