The exclusivity is just to the mid-night launch... so I believe the retail could sell the consoles in the next day.

It says in the article that MS "has exclusively tied up with Amazon for its delivery in the country".

The title is a tad misleading, but Amazon's wording implies the launch was rather lackluster regardless (at least with regards to pre-orders). They apparently still have "hundreds" of pre-orders to fulfill in other cities. Hundreds! :p

When i say lackluster i mean within context to the rest of the world, of course. Haven't a clue what you'd traditionally expect from India itself.

I don't expect much from India though.. like at all. Has to be a little more than 200 though.

From what I understood.

Amazon have a exclusive deal with MS do delivery every console pre-ordered for midnight launch... so this launch will be delivered only by Amazon.

These 200 units are for 8 cities: Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad and Nagpur.
There are hundreds to be delivered in others 35 cities.

The retail (I guess) start to sell the console in the day after the midnight launch.

I'm more curious on what happened to Amazon didn't have enough console to delivery to all cities... only 200 consoles seems a really low batch.

200 for the 8... "hundreds of" for 35 cities (top 8 cities and other tier-2 cities).

That what I got from the article... they could only deliver to 200 guys in 8 cities... all the others preorders are pending.

Seems like a supply issue for the midnight launch / preorders.

Yeah, that's fine. The article's wording is somewhat confusing and, indeed, somewhat unbelievable. Just edited the thread title to hopefully clear up some of this confusion after reading through the article a couple more times.
