Pokemon on GBC. I would go on to buy and enjoy other games, but it was the only system that was bought with only one purpose in mind.

And I doubt I would have gotten my Wii U if there hadn't been a Pikmin game in the pipes. (And unfortunately even two years later it's still pretty much just my Pikmin machine.)

Six years ago, there was no question Metroid was the more popular franchise. Maybe even four years ago. But Awakening has outsold Other M, Awakening is a critical hit versus Other M's lukewarm reception, Fire Emblem already has a Wii U game in the works while Metroid hasn't had any kind of announcement since Other M's release 4 years ago.

Fire Emblem also has twice as many playable characters in Smash Bros. :P

Yeah, cant wait to see more info on the new Fire Emblem!, the announcement of that game finally convinced me to get a Wii U.
