Forums - Sales Discussion - Destiny PS4 beats Titanfall sales on XB1 after only 1 week vs Titanfall's many months!

The review embargo really helped Destiny. Titanfall was seen as short on content and not that great so the hype was quelled by the time it hit the market. Destiny had a embargo and many underwhelmed buyers.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

My opinion but I don't think review could change anything in sales at all... people already made his choice even before the game launch and reviews won't change that.

Maybe it could even sell better if reviews was out early... I don't know.

1st bold is definitely wrong. There is no question less people would buy(at launch or at all) and more would wait for a cheaper price knowing how lacking in content the game is. 2nd bold is just plain silly.

I never said otherwise. There are even more factors to include in this "comparison" but it is of no use as it won't change any data.

Here's a factoid for you. The Titanfall bundle was $449. Now, maybe you can help me, but how much is the PS4 Destiny Bundle?  Oh no, wait, I got it. $449.  Thanks for playing.

I kneel down before thee, oh you super intelligent and well informed being - I made the mistake and took the price that is valid in my region which is Euro and here the bundle with PS4 and Destiny costs 439€. Thanks for trying to teach me.

Ok, what regions does XBO even stand a chance? US & UK.  What regions did Titanfall sell the vast majority of units in? US & UK.  Now, did the TF bundle receive pricuts in those regions to make it equal to the price of the Destiny bundle? Yes.

Glad you learned to kneel to royalty.

The hype behind Destiny was leagues higher than Titanfall's. And also the userbase is the half for Xbox.

So what's the point?

Titanfall hype was bigger in my opinion... the second coming.

About the the comparison I said a better one is Destiny vs Titanfall on Xbone... Destiny looks that will sell more even without free bundles.

I don't know, I mean here in Argentina nobody knows about TitanFall while almost everyone knows about destiny. It even appeared on  TV! (that's not something you see everyday, in fact the previous game to appear on tv news was GTA 5)

And I agree completely with the bolded.

I´m surprised that the Ban Hammer has been absent in this thread....

But why so much heat with VGChartz numbers that will all know are probably wrong on either case?

Would you guys mind if a point that Destiny on PS4 + XOne did about the same as Halo 3 on the 360, or that all versions combined don´t reach GTA V nor COD Black Ops on the PS3 and 360 respectively?

Or that Infamous SS will be out classed by Destiny on the XOne in the next few weeks?

Well, I think it would be hard for Argentinians playing on the Brasilian servers. However I´ve met a lot of Argentinians when I played Halo Reach and Halo 4.

But more impresive would be Titanfall be marketed in a country where the flagship console is not available.

Is Xbone launched in Argentina? I guess not.

Titanfall marketing/hype was focused in Xbone version alone... MS made sure to not talk about PC/360 version.

Thinking a little more about now... makes sense that people outside 13 launch counties thinks Destiny had more hype than Titanfall... Titanfall was not marketed in counties that Xbone was not available.

Possible but not definitely wrong.

Well you need to see that reviews could be better (or worst) if relesed before launch... think like the early could be like the Beta previews... so the harsh reviewers could give better scores (like they do with others games) waiting a better game at release.

To be fair I'm really happy the reviews this time take their time to play the game (good or bad reviews)... that how reviews needs to be... early/fast reviews always annoyed me.

Said that I don't reviews could change or even changed the fisrt week/month sales... the early addopter (these that buy day/week/month one) don't look reviews to buy games... they buys it even if the game scorered 6, 7, etc.

Most people preordered it... this talk about "I will cancel my preorder" is bullshit (and people thinks that happens why VGC preoder chart is disillusional)... I don't believe %5 of guys that preordered games cancel it.

And Destiny at the end have more reviews over 8 than below it...

I won't deny it. I'm a pro Xbox guy. Still, to a degree I was hoping that Destiny would blow away PS4 owners (just like how I'm hoping Sunset Overdrive will wow Xbox One owners). That way, I could say "SEE!? See what you've been missing out on!? Now do you see why Xbox owners love Halo?" But damn. Destiny hasn't been a critical success that I could use. Not only that, it's a sales success that PS4 owners (of which I am one of) can use to make Xbox One owners look bad!!

Damn you, Destiny.
