It wont be a system seller, I think everyone and their dog knows that, but what it will be is be apart of list of reasons why people should buy a wiiU. Sure, it won't sell many systems but what it might do is push some people over the edge this holiday in addition to MK8 and SSB and a few other games so that if they are planning on buying a wiiU, they have a good number of reasons to do so

They are interested in MK8 and SSB, but they need Bayo 2 to push them over the edge? I don't think Bayo 2 will work that way. Bayo 2 is meant to be a gateway or honeypot I game. It attracts a certain gamer to the platform and then they get exposed to all the rest Wii U has to offer. The problem is, this honeypot only has a fairly small fan base that will hive to it.

I think it will. Again, I am not saying everyone is gonna buy MK8 + SSB + Bayo 2... I am just saying that there are people here and there that might want a game like that in addition to other games. Are there a lot of people like that? Probably not hence why it probably wont go over a million Lifetime but that doesn't mean it won't help the wiiU

I don't know why people need to make post just to bash a game that's on a console they don't own.

It was clear from the get go it's NOT a system seller. People love to make erroneous assumptions about this and most of these people seem to be the ones that are A) not interested in the game B) Pissed for some reason or another that it's exclusive to the Wii U or C) Were told that the game was going to be a system seller by extreme fanboys.

I believe it will tip close to 1 million for a few reasons.
1) Value - two games for the price of one. Mario Kart claimed victory on this and likely at this point has a near 50% console attach rate. A majority of this was likely because of the club Nintendo promotion and it's own legacy.
2) Exclusivity - It's only coming to the Wii U, It includes Bayonetta 1.
3) The Wii U audience - It's not kids, instead it's mostly teens and young adults. This demographic eats these types of games for breakfast and dinner.

If this version sells more than the PS3 version at less people when the PS3 was out then I'll be quite surprised. This type of game wont even sell well on the PS4 or Xbox One. the PS3, 360 numbers just further reinforce that. A lot of Wii U gamers are core-gamers and they love exclusives so I guess what I'm trying to say. Hold off and see how this game does in it's first day.

I only own a Wii U, and honestly he's just being realistic. If Bayonetta 2 sells 500,000 I will be suprised. It's not about how good the game is, look at the sales of other games on the system, and this has a narrower appeal.

Is say 500k this year 1 mil lifetime. This game seems to have more hype than Bayonetta 1 and 2 and will benefit from being exclusivel

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

It is being hyped mostly because it is now a Nintendo game. That is no to say the game is not without its merits. It looks great and will play great but it's riding the controversy train, a la Titanfall.

It won't be a system seller in the sense of it being a killer app, but it will sell a number of Wii U units (I'm guessing around a 30k bump all launches aligned).

As for software I'd say it could possibly reach 1 million lifetime, but 800k is more likely.

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.

Yeah the game will flop.

I think it will reach 1 million in the next year or so. It is a niche title with vocal fans.

no need to apologise I pretty much thought your astute observations were common sentiment (most people that want the game, such as myself, would even agree with you so no real surprise).

But thanks for the manners

Even people's "generous estimates" are a bit high. If you look the sales of all Wii U games, the top 5 are barely all over 1 million. If Bayonetta 2 sells really well, it won't even be close.

actually 3 wii u games have sold over 2 million (one has actually sold over 4 million)... but whatever.

(that said I'm only expecting 100-200 million lifetime Bayo 2 best case scenario

There is no reason to expect it to sell a million, and I doubt Nintendo has set such a lofty goal for it.

If the first game failed to sell one million on 360 I have no idea why I should consider the second game a flop for failing to do so on Wii U.
