Forums - Nintendo Discussion - If you want quality mature games on Wii U, please don't support a gimped port of Watch Dogs. There's a better solution.

I guarantee watchdog sells more than bayonetta 2 on wii u

Now that's just downright silly.

Why?

The first sold niche on 360 and ps3, and I highly doubt those that did play the game would even buy a wii u

plus the whole nintendo gamers not liking mature games which is kinda true, I mean wii u owners aighnt getting a GTA game anytime soon so why not go for an alternative....

The idea that watchdogs will outsell it is what I find silly.

I made this post to reddit earlier, but I thought I could reach some more people by bringing it here, so I have some thoughts for you guys.

TL;DR: You want more high quality mature titles on Wii U? Support Bayonetta 2 by picking it up when it releases this October because doing so can potentially get Nintendo to bring us more mature games like it.

Simply put, Nintendo platforms are not known for their mature games because Nintendo rarely publishes its own M-rated titles. Therefore, for those kinds of games, Nintendo consoles are sort of a dangerous ground. Because of this, third parties don't want to bring their "mature" AAA titles to Wii U, and even if they do, they bring gimped ports to the platform and/or don't market their titles at all. The poor sales that resulted from such practices has caused third parties to leave the platform.

However, Nintendo is bringing more mature titles to Wii U now than they ever have in the past, and the upcoming ones show a lot of promise. In particular, Bayonetta 2 is coming to Wii U as an exclusive title this October, and it is shaping up to be one of the system's best games. As a sequel to the best action game of the last generation developed by Platinum Games, there's no reason you shouldn't pick this one up if you're looking for more mature titles. It also comes with the original game with extra enhancements packed in, so it's an amazing value.

If you want quality mature titles on Wii U, show that desire by picking up the actually good mature title that Nintendo is publishing for the system instead of forcing yourself to support gimped ports which won't sell anyway, like Watch Dogs. It will at least prove to Nintendo that we want more of those kinds of games, and so they'll be more keen on publishing mature exclusives like Bayonetta 2. In the best case scenario, it could also prove to some third parties (like Sega, the owner of the Bayonetta IP) that we aren't a lost cause.

Just wanted to put the thought out there. Thanks!

EDIT: This thread isn't supposed tell you guys not to buy Watch Dogs outright, nor am I trying to convince you to buy one over the other if you want both. I'm trying to say that if you're not interested in WD but are considering buying it to get Ubisoft to bring us mature games, don't. Your money is better spent on Bayo 2.

1. Why are you considering Watch dogs on the wii u will be a gimped version. Ubisoft is known for giving a damn about the wii u and I highly doubt they would release a gimped version. One can only consider it a gimped version if it is compared with the ps4/Xbone version and then it is not the developers fault but the wii u's own fault for less powerfull hardware.

2. The reason why people are supporting watch dogs is not because it will be the only mature wii u game from now on, but because people want to show developers that no bribing by nintendo, will be needed to get the game on the console since the game is guraunted to sell.

Ubisoft has a history of gimping its Wii U releases, we saw this with AC3, AC4, and Splinter Cell Blacklist. Of course it can't be expected to perform on par with the PS4/Xbox One, but if it doesn't at least outshine the PS3/360 versions, then it's a lazy port.

Agreed, gamepad features aside, there is NO reason the Wii U version shouldn't outshine the PS3 and 360 version...fatter, faster BUS, way more cache, way better GPU, and more and faster RAM! No reason to not outshine last gen. Will they spend the resources to optimize...that's the question!

The wii u when compared to the ps3 has only a higher amount of ram, and that advantage is quickly downplayed by something called a bottelneck. Therefore it is no surprise that the wii u produces at most slightly better grapicks than the ps3. Just accept it, that the wii u is just taking the wii's place as a console which in terms of power is one gen too late.

If Ubisoft put real effort into Watch_Dogs for Wii U, and it's not a gimped port, of course, you should support it.

But I agree that Bayonetta 2 deserves support more than Watch_Dogs does, no matter how things turn out.

RAM is not the only advantage, (and twice as much of it is a pretty significant advantage. Also, it's not a bottleneck if you properly utilise Wii U's eDRAM for tasks that require high speed memory access) Wii U also has a GPU several generations ahead of PS3 or 360, with DX10/11 capabilities.

There is no excuse for a Wi U version not to have better graphics than the PS3/360 versions.

What about the people who have no interest in Bayonetta 1+2 and can't wait to play Watch_Dogs on their WiiU? Should they buy Bayonetta even though they have no intention of playing it?

I'm amazed anyone would be interested in the crap Ubisoft's peddling to Wii U owners over a sequel the best action game from the last generation (which also has the best action game of the last generation packed in for free), but okay, sure. That's on them, I won't judge.

I'm just giving a suggestion to those who, like me, don't want to deal with gimped ports of multiplat titles or no mature titles at all on the platform.

Bayonetta is cr*p.... Watch_Dogs all the way!

People should just buy what they want.

If the games you want on wii u don't sell, you just chose the wrong console.

How do you know it will be a gimped port?
