When will the PS4 be 3:1 to the Xbox One

Let's hear your reason how it is possible for the X1 to sell less than its launch month while still having 4 months to go in more countries, at a lower price, with a lot more games and Destiny no less.

5) They both require an online fee, and 90% of the games are on both so it will be hard for the x1 to be a secondary console.

6) The ps4 has anounced a lot more exclusive in the future and has more now and its expected to always deliver more and better. Like Tomb Raider all they do is purchase exclusivity, wich will be dificult going foward with the intall base so low.

7) Shareplay will be huge. Something smilar was inmediatly shot down last year for the x1 wih means just how well receive anythng from sony is. Even thou the PS4 is doing it way better.

There are many more reasons but looking into the future, I can see the ps4 growing quicker and the x1 droping the baseline. By next year I expect the baseline to be like 30k, wore then the wii u.

2) Mainstream doesn't import

3) will still sell a number of consoles even if it's 10:1 for Sony in those countries

4) Again, not a mainstream concern. If it were the console would sell 0.

5) Secondary consoles are also not mainstream. But you're still completely missing the point of a secondary console. It doesn matter if it plays the same games. What matteras are the exclusives. X1 has some big ones and especially those who jumped from 360 to PS4 will want to get in on that. Not that secondary consoles would make up much.

6) Doesn't matter. People will play the games they want and don't care how they are acquired. X1 has high profile exclusives and it will be bought by people who want them, no matter how many exclusive the competitor has.

7) Lol, no it won't^^ And I doubt the mainstream consumer will even be aware of it if Sony doesn't run a big ad campign to support it.

 

X1 will not break sales records this year but it sure as hell will easily sell more than 3m consoles.

A lot of people are inclined to belive that next gen will be a type o service for any pc due to the rapidly increasing power of the pc's. Leaving consoles obsolete. Ninetendo will be the ones for sure to realease another console.

But seriously 2016? There is no way. If MS does release one then that would be even worse since MS does not support last gens the sales would disapear while the ps4 will keep selling another couple of years and for scertain achive 3:1.


well i'm saying that if Nintendo released a new console by 2016 then MS would follow shortly there after... like 2017ish

I do agree though, and think that MS is more poised to take center stage for virtual consoles accessible through MS devices if they can get break out in hand held devices. Sony might be a strong contender there as well as they are already working towards that end with PS TV and would probably work with android and Windows devices as well...

The thing is you guys are expecting numbers way to high for the x1.

Even if we said the X1 sold 15m by the end of 2014 (which is a low figure), there is probably a 1% chance that the PS4 would of sold over 45 million

45m does sound high. But this year the ps4 seems like it will do at leat 15m. The second year for the lead console should be bigger, so maybe 20m more if lucky, so that would put it at 35m, more reasonable. That meas the x1 will have to be 11.7m wich is extremely low. But keep in mind that the Wii U started good then sold like 4m in a year and a half when the hype ended. Not saying that it will happen to the x1 but its scertanly a possibility.  Especially since this time they are both fighting for the same crowd and the ps4 has bested it at every turn.

Caught onto that, huh ;) It was a nice point though :P

Still it is a lot more popular now and a lot of the bad stuff that hindered it last holiday will be forgotton. People will ony see Xbox successor and the exclusive games it has.

To all of the avove combined, the reason you dont see it yet is because the core fans are probably the ones buying the consoles now, wich is why we saw such a big drop in numbers and now reality is setting in.

I am inclined to take that bet, but I do realise that the odds are againts me since my numbers are bend around my predictions. Before I accept, what are the parameter?

Gonna be interesting now. To make it a bit more fair I will even raise my prediction. So the bet is:

I bet that X1 will have sold more than 8.5 million by VGC numbers of January 3rd. Stipulation is that we will use the numbers AFTER the adjustments from the December NPD which will be revealed some time around mid of January. So we will take the numbers from the update that immediately follows NPD day.

1 month sig control is on the line.

The X1 was adjusted a bit not too long ago wasn't it? Even so it's only a bit overtracked and will surely be at 5m with next week's numbers. PS4 is of course at 10m. So yes, 2:1. No one saw that, especially in under a year.

Do I get some wiggle room? If the PS4 suffers supply issues again the x1 will sell a lot more. What happens in that type of situacion? How About if that happens he stakes lower to 15 days?
