Does it mean anything that people can get their 8th gen Smash fix on 3DS?

Nope, not at all.

So if people have a choice of buying Smash + 3DS or Smash + Wii u you're saying no one would choose the much cheaper choice with the much better games library?

If somebody wants smash bros and doesn't own a wiiu or 3ds, im pretty sure most will get a wiiu and SSBU. Many people are holding off getting a wiiu intill SSB gets here.

This is not saying 3DS version wont sell more. There are 2 main reasons why it'll sell more on 3ds than wiiu, but thats not the point.

It will only go up to like 8.5 million. It is devoid of major third-party support. Hyrule Warriors will not sell very well, Smash for Wii U won't because its also on 3ds, an no one cares about anything else. Smart toys are a fad not a solution.

So you are saying it will sell less than last year in the holidays? No, just no...

If you're interested in Nintendo content and understand german, maybe you want to take a look at my youtube channel! :)

I predicted 9 million at the start of this year, and that was seen to be a VERY optimistic view. I think that 9 million is still about right, I would love to see them go higher but 10 million might be a little bit too high IMO. The question is whether once they go over 9 million 3rd party developers return back to the system, if so momentum will start to build and the system could have a massive 2015.

I'd say yes if not 11 million by years end. I think it will sell over 6 million this year (not FY but 2014) because right now it's at 1,376,000, should grow 2 million from here to Smash with Bayonetta and Hyrule Warriors, then Smash and Captain Toad will probably help push over 3 million this holiday. I'd be giddy if it ended up pushing my original pre-2014 prediction of 9 million this year but that sadly isn't likely. I think it will easily sell 6 million this year, maybe 6.5 which would bring it close to 11 or above 11 million

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

Nintendo said not, but here's hoping so yes.

They stand a good chance, 7 million by the end of August, boosts from Hyrule Warriors, Bayo 2, Smash, Toad , Sonic etc. Black Friiday might be kind to them if there are tons of good deals, maybe a slight price cut??

i think a pro controller in the pack is better than a 30$ price cut.

Hyrule Warriors will be lucky to sell 1 million copies. It isn't a real Zelda game. The Wii U will be lucky to sell 9 million by the end of 2014. 10 million seems like a pipe dream. Super Smash Bros. like Mario Kart 8 will sell extremely well to the current install base, but it won't be pushing a ton of new Wii U consoles. Plus the fact that the 3DS version will surely cannibalize some of the Wii U version sales.  Right now the 3DS is a way better buy than the Wii U.

However, if the Wii U gets a $100 price cut when Smash Bros arrives then it might be possible.
