I personally think that SAO was the best anime centered around MMO's ever since .hack//Sign ...

Overlord practically dumps it's game setting immediately so it's not anymore of a game than it is a fantasy or the protagonists case his own reality ...

Log Horizon broke down it's 2nd season when it's plot became standstill ...

I haven't watched overlord (only the 1st ep) but i agree with Log Horizon. The 1st season puts a shame to SAO season 1. Like how LH explored most of the aspects of the game than sao. But for the 2nd season (im over half way) just didn't hit me like the 1st. The overused of the "comedy" aspect made it less enjoyable to watch. And yeah the plot was taking toooo long to progress. And the amount of new characters they chucked in....... But i did like how they did give us insight on how npcs are changing (which sao touched only a bit).

So overall, up to where i watched. If we balance the positives and negatives, i think SAO is still enjoyable to watch. And im surely will keep wayching until the very last season. But for LH..... Im not sure when im going to continue it. It could also be the fact that SAO is sooooo popular that you hear and see it everywhere which makes you wanna watch it.

I thought that SAO 1 was just as good as LH 1 but yeah agreed on how SAO was still enjoyable to watch ...

Fairy Dance was definitely the weakest Arc and that's understandable since it had been known from LN readers before the anime adaption however, overall SAO was waaay better managed than LH when it came to the second season as you pointed out ...

I wonder if the OP is even going to update this thread since his last post was 2 months ago ...

He last logged in a month ago, so it's kind of hard to say. He seems to have been a pretty infrequent poster this year, but at least he reappeared to update the OP for the summer anime. I mean, we could always migrate to a new thread if we absolutely had to.

@Bold Here's the plan: All of us in this thread will have to consider that when the OP doesn't come back in three weeks ...

I've watched so much Steins Gate in the past few days its not even funny. This is the best thing I've come across in a long time, and that goes for TV and video games. Nothing has kept me this intrigued for a long time. I sing high praise.
That being said I've realized something about my tastes in anime. NHK and Stein's Gate are amazing while I found that KLK dropped off the radar for me, and Haruhi pales in comparison as well. I hope I don't offend anyone when I say this but I think this is a product of the target audience for which the anime was written. I argue that NHK and Steins Gate are written more for adults than kids or teens. The only reason I bring this up is because I would like more suggestions towards anime like SG or NHK. I was thinking Psycho Pass but I haven't done much research into anything really.
Any advice is much appreciated! Y'all are a cool bunch. For once, somewhere on VGC where everyone gets along.

Pokoko made some great recommendations although you should know that some of those animes are much "heavier" than SG or NHK.

But if you like those kind of animes i would recommend you Noein, Haibane Renmei, Mushishi, Paranoia Agent, Boogiepop Phantom and Planetes.

I'm watching Lovely Complex right now, but I think I may have burned myself out on rom coms for a bit after Toradora and Sakurasou. I'm on episode 10, but I kind of feel like I'm just watching it because I'm too lazy to find something else. It isn't bad by any means. It's just not really doing anything for me.

I think the problem may be that I don't have any weekly shows to break things up at this point. Even when I was watching the other two, I took small breaks to knock out the final episodes of a few things.

Lovely Complex was fun but it lacked the drama of some of the better romantic comedies.  It was almost more slice of life.

Nodame Cantabile, Kimi ni Todoke, Skip Beat, Yamato Nadeshiko, Sukitte Iinayo, and Kare Kano are some of my favorites in that genre.  Actually, it seems to be a genre that has fallen off recently.  I wonder why.

Whoa o.O you guys really overwhelmed me with the suggestions haha! Thanks to vs pokoko and machina for more great suggestions. At the very least I can't say now that I have nothing to watch lol
