It will come. But it takes forever. Look how long close captioning took to work on the PS3. Last year. before then, you couldn't use the TV style captions. Just the built in subtitles on the disc. Plus it took them like 3 years to allow Bluray SD files to upscale to 1080p. Before then. The player only allowed 480p.

It was weird at first but now feels like an orgasm in my hands. Much improved.

Just a point, Video Unlimited isn't a subscription service, it's a VoD service more like iTunes and XBOX Video rather than like Netflix or Amazon Instant Video
But yeah, I watch pretty much everything through Netflix or through my Sky box, I haven't missed the USB playback at all

It's not broken. For some reason it kept giving me this "cannot detect ethernet cable" message. I told the guy and he didn't care because he games offline.

Congrats on your new PS4. As for the media playback feature, it's been rumoured for a while so I expect we'll see it sometime soon.
