Forums - Sony Discussion - Destiny - PS3 vs PS4 video comparison

I'll be glad when they stop making these multi gen releases. Last gen consoles are holding current gen back. PS4 version looks better, but not by leaps and bounds like it should.

The DF one does a much better job of comparing them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDMRMzc9TSY

A pretty significant difference, but nothing mind blowing. About as much as we can expect to see from linearly scaled cross gen games (MGS5 is arguable a bigger difference, though thanks to performance rather the heavy render LOD differences in Destiny).

I'd say the image quality is the biggest difference between the two, but the culling and harsh light shadows deserve honorary mention :p

Will be interesting to see how both versions get improved from now until launch. Hopefully they deal with the frame pacing issue.

PS3 version holds up pretty well considering how ancient the hardware is now.

PS4 version obviously a clear winner in visual fidelity, effects and overall detail. Would be nice to see how far Bungie could push the next gen consoles if they were next gen only.

my screen isn't 60 inches so i find it impossible to tell the difference between these.

I'm guessing the blurriness of PS3 version is because its sub-720p. Which has become pretty common.

My biggest concern of the 7th gen version was frame rate. DF did a frame analysis on the PS3 version and it surprisingly maintains a solid 30 fps. I posted that in the OP.

That was an argument about resolution. Clearly the differences go beyond resolution.

But regardless of the size of your TV, you can enjoy 30 fps on either platform! Check the video added in the OP.

The PS3 version looks fine for PS3.

If the PS4 version was 60 fps, I'd be more inclined to say, "ps4 only way to go."

PS4 is more visual polish, same game, same frame rate.

FPS mmo, both run 30fps so framerate isnt the issue, on the other hand, one is blurry as hell and aliased from low res output, less texture memory (lower resolution textures), much shittier lighting, shadows, particle effects and physics, the others clear and defined and improves upon the PS3 version in every area, even framerates, i know which one i'd rather be playing when shooting a gun,, which is... kinda what you do most of the time in this game.

So yes, ps4 is the way to go on this one.

PS, play both PS3 beta and PS4 beta, do a warsat public event, compare framerates when the third and fourth wave of enemies drop down, you'll see the difference instantly.

Completely agree. I'm tired of these cross-gen games.

PS4 version is only minor improvements. Of course, everyone who has a next gen console should buy on it to get 1080p and other visual improvements, but the PS360 version looks pretty decent.

My thougts exactly. Nothing wrong with the older versions.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.
