There are a lot of people waiting to get an X1. I don't think there are that many to that are waiting for Wii U.
There are a bunch of big exclusives and multiplats coming out between august and Black Friday so if they manage to shrink the gap by 1 million until then it's quite possible.

Halo MCC bundle will sell.

Expecting other bundles as well.

We still got Evolve beta (exclusive), fable legends beta, Halo 5 beta, Sunset Overdrive, KI S2, Halo MCC, Project Spark, FH2, and some others.

Smash will sell greatly though.

I have a few friends waiting for Halo MCC and you know people will be getting next gen for the next CoD and AC.

I used to think it would outsell it next year. Not so sure now.

That said, we might be laughing at these numbers in two weeks. It's the pattern around here. :/

I agree on this because halo master chief collection might have a bundle so that might be a reason

I don't think so but at the end of the day, does it really matter to the consumer?

Will it really though? Other than a HD Halo 2 experience, what does it bring to the table which we haven't played in the last 5 or so years? I think it's appeal is limited to the hardcore Halo crowd. Still a large crowd, but maybe not big enough to really move the needle for hardware sales.

To answer your question, No.  This Kinect-less SKU did not have such a boost to believe XBone can catch WiiU by the end of 2014; also WiiU is doing better lately.

i still don't believe vgc is right when they posted this weeks numbers for xbox. i'll believe benV over vgcz any day.

 

i feel certain that the 1.7M gap is being slowly whittled away right now and that xbox will see a better holiday boost than wiiU.  by the end of the year that 1.7M gap will be bascially gone with xbox and wiiU in a testicular pie.
