A lot of people complaining consoles not getting any release.... esp this summer.

But seriously. How many games do you buy in a year?  I don't assume everyone here have full time job or writing their thesis, but how much is enough?

It is true that few releases doesn't always capture your taste of gaming, but what is your ideal major release every year? and how much do you buy?

I think i will average about 6-7 games a year... I know it is not a lot but i believe it is enough for me since ive been really busy the past 2 years.  I think a console can release 3 times of my average consumption (major games that has potential to break the 1M to 5M line.)

Average game: 6-7

Major release: 18-21

I buy a lot, but dont play them all.

So far this year I have bought over 20 games, but played about 7.
And by buying games I mean dirt cheap games, on sale, for collective purposes.

But yes I agree that 10 major releases a year is plenty for the average gamer.

I've bought less in the previous years but this year and the last two years is when I ramped up on purchases :P!

Did you have that list prepared already or something?

Alphabetical and all.

For full price? I'd say between 10 - 15 a year.

Price during a Steam sale/ bargain bin? A lot, 100+ on Steam alone last year.

I moved into next-gen deciding to play more casually. On my X360 I took advantage of every marketplace sale, bought a ton of discs and ended up not playing many of them at all.
I bought a PS4, with one big decision. I will only buy games I truly want to play. Also, I will not buy a new game until I'm finished with the current one (except MLB and FIFA, I play those year round). So, other than those 2 games, I purchased 3 so far, and until the end of the year I only have 3 on the list (new FIFA, The Evil Within and Far Cry 4).

So, tl;dr, about 6 per year.

Yes. I have all my purchases documented.

man i thought im alone here

I bought 46 retail games for my PS3 (the first console I bought with my own money), 6 PS4 ones and 4 Vita ones in the last 6 years. Plus 4 digital games.

That's 60 games in 6 years, so exactly 10 games per year on average.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

I only buy at 4-5 games a year for full retail price (usually just big releases like SSB or Zelda). However, I probably pick up around 30 to 40 from Steam and GOG sales.
