I read on IGN that Sakamoto have been busy with being director for Tomodachi Life, so either they just started making it, or aren't making it, or has been making it without Sakamoto.

I haven't recovered yet about the fact Retro Studios made two 2D Donkey Kong games. :(

This has resulted in me not caring much for Retro's new project anymore because it wouldn't surprise me at all if they made yet another 2D game or something lame.

Metroid: Other M had nice graphics and the gameplay didn't seem too bad (from looking at gameplay vids, didn't buy the game), but the story was convoluted and the gameplay just wasn't what Metroid is about. If the game was a new IP it would've had a better Metacritic score I think. It's just not a good Metroid game.
