this alpha/beta seems to be the best thing ever for destiny. so much of the skeptisism has dissipated within hours of the alpha. destiny is a game i always thought looked awesome but i think a lot of the ideas are just hard to communicate. postive word of mouth is what is going to make destiny sell and it is getting it in spades. :)

I agree 100%. I was a bit of a doubter myself even though I love Bungie. Some of the advertising made it look a bit bland.
But when you play the game everything just clicks. The gunplay is sooooooo good.

Help me understand if I will like this game (32). Here is my history (not counting left 4 dead or single player games like uncharted, glaxy etc.)
I played halo 1 (a lot of repetitveness at the end is what I remember most) on PC using my old Radeon 9800 Pro... this is way back when. Don't recall playing 2-4. Played COD MW 1 loved, MW2 loved... down hills since all the way to Ghosts (still meh due to lag, instakills, etc.)... switched to Titanfall, really really like it, probably logged more than 100 hours.
Not sure if I like the idea of MMO. If it has boring moments I can't play it because my GF watches me and she likes action (insert joke here). But seriously, I couldnt even play MGS4 due to too much sneaking in the first few levels ( :( )... yet she liked Zelda TP, go figure.
So yeah, is the action non stop like Titanfall or COD or MK8 for that matter, or is it RPG like?
There are some people here making comments about the story, but I'm not sure how you would make any judgement on the story from an alpha that only has 1 main mission....
The 1080p is gorgeous, but I think there is some framerate issues and judders. It doesn't seem to hit 30 fps in many situations. I know this is alpha, so I hope that can improve this. Hopefully, someone like digital foundry do a performance analysis.

Its really hard to describe without playing it. The game certainly feels like an RPG (more so than I even thought it would) but also feels like a fast paced FPS.
Strike missions are action packed and have some insane battles while the open world is a little slower paced and has much more exploring / discovering. The map is massive.
The game honestly plays however you want it to. If you want a fast paced large scale battles like Halo play Strike Missions. If you want to see the world, do sidequests, and journey through the beautiful world Bungie has made do free roam. If you want an MMO experience and to talk with and meet new people go to The Tower.
There really is so many different ways to play game.
sweet i woke up to a code, if anyone wants to add me on psn to play sdlewis1986
