Yes Off Course.
The Wii U is a great console.
The only problem i see with it is the name.
It's too similar to the original Wii.
If the console had a name such as
Super Wii or even a different name but a good name
I believe sales would have been much higher.

The name alone isn't the problem. It's more to do with branding and marketing.

If it was called the Wii 2, yes. A big part of the Wii fan base (old people) have no idea what a Wii U is. I constantly see store clerks having to explain the difference to them. I even had to explain it to my coworker as she kept referring to the Wii as the "real one" and the Wii U as a fake. The Wii U name was a disaster.

The games on Wii U are great.
It has a very similar games library that the Wii has.
The only reason it's not successful as the Wii is the name.

A lot of people didn't even know Nintendo has a new console.
They were sure the U for Wii U is a peripheral just like the Wii Fit.
With a better name Nintendo could have done much better at sales.

"Wii" was already a shitty name and it sold a lot. I don't think IPod was a fantastic name either and it sold so much. No one made a confusion like "ipod, ipad, is it the same ? I can't buy it because I'm not so sure". Name doesn't matter, what matter is having a product that is clear, supported, appealing, at a correct pricing, new, has buzz, and/or is supported by excellent ads...

And for more rumor the nex console of Nintendo will call Wii D. XD

I always wonder - there is Sony xperia Z, Sony Xperia E, Sony Xperia S, Sony Xperia P, Htc Desire Z, S, C. People get that it's a new phone. It looks different too.

So what is the problem with understanding that Wii is not Wii U?

The Name does matter!

Many people didn't buy the Wii U becasue they didn't know it's a new console.

They thought it was peripharel  like Wii Fit and not a new console.

Another person here said that many people thought Wii is the real console and the Wii U is a fake :)

That's just shows how confusing that name is.

The names Wii and Wii U are simply too similar.

Either way that name caused a lot of confusion with costumers.

and also effected the sales.

I think that's the only reason the Wii U isn't successful as much as the Wii was.

I had no idea what Nintendo were thinking when they added the U to Wii U.

I hope that for their next console they would choose a good name.
