Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why is it hard to believe that third parties are biased against Nintendo?

Because the whole definition of bias playing a role, where money is the only driving force, in the business making decisions of corporations is utterly unrealistic.

If bias drove the industry rather than irrational fear backed up by "focus testing", we'd have a god tier gaming industry right nao.

Devs and publishers want money. If Nintendo made them money then Devs and publishers would be there but 3rd party games do not do well on Nintendo hardware

It's no biggie really. I've heard for many years now that Nintendo's 1st party games are what sells their consoles. That's proving to be absolutely true.

No doubt that tons of biased decisions are made in the games industry all the time.

I think the bias against Nintendo in particular has more to do with Nintendo not pandering to and including 3rd parties as much as Sony and MS do. They often hold their cards closer to their chest than any other player in the industry. This leads to 3rd parties feeling left out of whatever Nintendo is doing.

When Sony was making hardware for 3rd parties they asked 3rd parties what they wanted and needed. When Nintendo made a console for 3rd parties they made what they thought 3rd parties wanted or needed. Because they didn't ask and share they ended up with a console for 3rd parties that no 3rd party would touch.

Being the manchildren that most 3rd party developers are they exclude Nintendo because they feel they too have been excluded. It's all rather childish really.

Do you suppose if Nintendo money-hatted projects into existence, 3rd parties would make the ports? Even in spite of weaker hardware?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Long ago, like 5 years ago, Nintendo was able to survive with only first party games and shovelware. But other companies can't.

Therefore, they need to help the weakest, not the strongest.

Your OP has nothing to do with the thread title.

If ports made them money they would do it.

Of course it's hard to believe, why would the gaming industry be any different than film, TV, law, politics, medicine or science. The gaming industry is just as sacred and righteous as all of these, and therefore immune to bias. Gaming industry certainly is too honourable to be bought off.
