Halo 2. The last of us only came out last year and it's not from a big franchise.

A new IP sold over 6 million in less than a year on a dying console. Id say thats a sign of a pretty strong franchise.

And I could be wrong but I think TLoU on PS3 is well on its way to outsell Halo 2 on original Xbox

I highly doubt the PS3 version will be able to hit Halo 2's sales alone (8.49m). It's currently tracking ahead of Uncharted 3, so 7 million total for physical + digital is very doable, but that's quite a bit off 8.5 million. Including the PS4 version it could probably do it.

Still, the PS3 version alone should be able to pass Halo 1 ^^ I'd consider that worthy of high praise.

I don't really see the point of this kind of comparison when these two (different) games serve two different purposes. The Last of Us Remastered serves more to attract gamers who have not played the game yet, especially 360 users who did not purchase a PS3. Halo 2 Anniversary serves more to hype things up for Halo 5 and to help the X1 stay relevant.

What did the first halo remake sell?

About 2.2m according to VGC

Then I wouldn't expect the second remake to do much better than that. I’d guess about 3 million, maybe a bit more. When taking the new console effect into account. So, pretty much a tie.

I'm thinking PS4 The Last of Us will do 5 million lifetime vs 3.5 for Halo 2.

I'm thinking TLOU 3 mil, Halo 2 2mil. TLOU has very good timing. It's recent, has had just enough time for people to spread news of its by word of mouth, so more people will be interested, since it's a new franchise that's had such praise. It's also going to be one of the best things on the system. Halo 2 is pretty old news now, there are better options on the system, and the franchise has improved a lot and moved on since then so it's less interesting. Add in the install bases, and the troubles in Europe and Japan, and TLOU has a distinct advantage even without Halo's brand recognition.

To those saying a multiplayer focus will help Halo 2, I say it will hurt it, because people will have more likely gotten their fill of Halo at a friend's house than with TLOU. Sure, you can borrow the game, but with a single player game you'd much rather own it, whereas with a multiplayer game, you don't even need to borrow it to get full enjoyment, you can just play with your friend.

But halo 2 remake should have the original multi where the halocea pretty much had the so

I'm going with the last of us by at least 2 million. A 10 year old Halo remake isn't going to sell nearly as good as people think especially with only about 4 million Xbox install base. Halo Anniversary only sold about 2 million with a 360 install base of 60+ million.

Halo 2 probably. The install bases for both consoles allow sufficient numbers for either game so the bigger franchise will win.
