Forums - Gaming Discussion - Outcast Reboot HD on KickStarter! And it's meh!

I dunno. I dunno how long I've been waiting for a new Outcast game. Too long. Back when I used to get really hyped for things, a new Outcast was something I used to dream about constantly.

And now I suddenly find a page with a countdown saying that it's getting Kickstarted in five minutes.

Well, I'm grinding my teeth now waiting to post a link.

Just a bit more now, just a little while longer.

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... I'm typing dots to pass the time ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... I've added a banner ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... OK my opinion: meh. They apparently don't know what a reboot means but HD should have given me a clue. Anyway, they don't have ANYTHING to show yet and didn't put much work into the kickstarter. Shame, I'm really disappointed now.

Anyway, forget about this thing guys, Outcast is perfectly amazing and playable. Get it here: http://www.gog.com/game/outcast

You should have added something about the game....Almost nobody knows the first one =p.

Anyway it is an action adventure game set in fantasy sandbox world... It is one of those games that even won a lot of awards but almost nobody played;.

Why do they put the next-gen consoles ports after the VR support? Thats ridiculous. Also the extra content is after this aswell. Really? Who cares about VR? OR isnt even commercially out yet. Thats a huge bottleneck on the campaign.

I would definitly get this for PS4. I always wanted to play the original game but my PC at the time couldnt run it. Nowadays it just looks too atrocious.

Hmm next gen console version....You think they can make that much? The counter goes up fast but that is always at the beginning..

I don't care. The only thing they talk about in the minimum-effort video is how inadeqate the original is. IMO the original was ahead of it's time and still is. No voxels, no deal.

"Isn't that cool?" asks Sauer. I say "No".

Ah, the old classic, so much ahead of its time. Are people who were involved in making Open Outcast involved in this by any chance too?

No, it's a separate project.

I bought the original at the time. Never got far in it, too hard and I soon got bored not knowing what I was supposed to do. For all it's touting voxels for great visuals it looked quite bad up close with a weird bumpy landscape to showcase the voxel engine I guess. The voxel tech in Comanche 3 was much better, 2 years earlier.

I remenber seeing this game at a friends house (his father was playing, and they were rich by the way). Was outstanding, and the greastest thing i ever saw. But what i really remenber is that he had a camel/kangoroo that never walked in the way he wanted and was really struggling with that.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Hmm Hmm... This game fits well on a console. I would have that in the first wave.
I don't know if I'll back this, but it did remind me that I have this to install again too :).
