Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Shutting Down Resistance Series Online Features

I wish I had started 2 and 3 earlier

Now when I get around to them I'll be stuck offline. At least the local components are intact.

This is what happens to aging games, they're not gonna keep those servers around forever.

Resistance 3 is less than 2.5 years old

Insomniac isn't cozy with Sony anymore and the series is pretty much done now. They did the same thing with SOCOM and MotorStorm.

It was never a Halo killer. It's sad to see it go down, but there are better shooters.

i swear i've seen this news atleast 7 times already.

Not a huge loss, but they should seriously patch resistance 2 and 3 to automatically give the online trophies, otherwise the platinum trophy will become impossible

Resistance 3's MP is one of the best of its generation.

Not a problem for me. If I ever get R3 it will be to play the Sp campaign only. But they only way that will happen is if it comes to PSN+ game of the month, and that is extremely unlikely given they've dropped the online service. So I guess I'll never play it. NVM it's only FPS and I think the only FPS game from Gen 7 I'll play to completion is Bioshock Infinite...maybe.

I actually really liked this series, even tho I skipped R3. Resistance was my first game for PS3, and my first real entry into FPS games. I enjoyed it immensely. R2 I found a lot of fun minus random enemy difficulty spikes due to them just throwing bigger/more at you all the time. R2 envoked a certain horror aura that was the entirety of R1. When you were walking down the street a solitary grim would duck out from an ally. You start shooting thinking easy pickings but then a STAMPEDE of them come flowing out from every side. Running for your life while turning to kill as many as possible......loved it. Competitive was a lot of fun in R1, not so much in R2. R2's coop RPG was where I found most of it's enjoyment.

I was annoyed they took out the Coop mode in R3, if only to distance it from their multiplat endevour FUSE. They also replaced Nathan with the WORST character of R3 and just gave him a personality change....wasn't feeling it...so didn't buy it.

People like you who didn't bought R3 made them go multiplat.. :P

Anyway you should get R3.. best SP of the series.. it's like super cheap right now..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

the servers don't last forever. I'm sure not that many people played those games online anymore.

Resistance 3 has one of the best FPS campaigns ever.

It was decent compared to some oter crap released today, but still a pretty crap campaign.  Can spot the people who never did PC gaming in early 2000s, because even an 'average' campaign from then is better than anything put out nowdays.

Okay let's play a game. Name some better FPS campaigns not named Half Life 2 or Bioshock. No mentioning any Battlefield, Call of Duty or Medal of Honor.
