Many would have you believe that people "just don't want Nintendo games any more" because of the Wii U, but sales of 9.36m for Mario Kart 7, 9.35m for Super Mario 3D Land, 7.37m for New Super Mario Bros 2 show this is blatantly untrue. 3DS's 43m sales also show that "people don't want Nintendo hardware" is false as well.

The real problem is, people won't spend $300 USD to get their Nintendo fix when they can get it on 3DS for half the price.

Their libraries are too similar; why get a Wii U for 3D World or NSMBU when you can play 3D Land and NSMB2 for less? To the audience for these games, HD is simply not a big enough lure to jusify spending an extra $150.

Wii U software needs to differentiate itself from 3DS, to do things impossible on 3DS and be notably different in approach to 3DS's offerings in the same series or genre. For example, make Zelda Wii U nothing like Link Between Worlds.

No. People who want to play on a home console don't buy handhelds as a replacement. It's as easy as that.

Are you suggesting that 3d World = 3d Land in terms of quality apart from the HD aspect? Also Beyonatta 2, Hyrule Warriors, and X are nothing like what the 3ds has in terms of games... And Mario Kart 8 and 3d World are more than just HD releases since MK has anti gravity and 3d World has 4 player coop and the levels are much better and etc... Have you seen the tracks in MK8? They look so zomfg! Everytime I show my friends those tracks, they just want to play the game! At least 4 of my friends are getting a wiiU just for MK8 after seeing the trailers

The only thing you can argue that for is DKC:TF, NSMBU and SSB but even with SSB, imo, unlike Playstation All-Stars, there are plenty of differences such as the Stages and Single Player/Advanture Mode and obviously DKC:TF has different levels than DKC:R and etc

So, I don't think the 3ds is whats killing the wiiU although for SSB, it will hurt the sales... People buy the 3ds cause it the best games and not cause it has the "same" games as the wiiU

It's definitely a factor, but not the sole reason for Wii U's underperformance.

No, I'm suggesting that for Sony fans who wanted to play Uncharted or Killzone, or even multiplats like Need for Speed and Assassin's Creed 3, the similar but superior PS3 versions are more appealing than Vita.
