Karting is a very fun sport, but it's not 1% as comfy as driving a modern car.

Just got my license few month ago, but I think I can help out!
When you get better at driving, know that the passenger doesn't know when you're going to break. So if they complain that you weren't braking, it means you probably aren't braking as early as you should have. You can anticipate when the car will stop because you're braking but others won't - especially other drivers!
If you're American, turning left or right at the intersection (don't know if that's the right term) should be at 20-25 mph. Anything faster than that may be too sharp.
Always leave a three second gap behind the other car! I use a reference point to help determine when it's three seconds. For example the car in front of you just past by a bench. If you pass by it lower than three seconds, you're a little too close. If you're more than three seconds behind, you're driving a little too slow!
When you merge into the other lane, and you feel like the car blocking you is going at the same speed, you can
A) slow down, let the car get ahead of you from his lane, and merge behind
B) Drive faster than him if there are no cars at all in front of the blocking car and get in front of it! Make sure you signal first, too, and let the blocked see your rear signal lights or else it looks like you cut them off rudely
Its generally easier if you slow down and merge behind that car in your way.
Hope this helps!
Always learn on the car you're going to be driving later or something bigger. That's really my only tip.
Driving was pretty easy for me though.
