Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Game Theory: Wii U is the New Virtual Boy

I only need one argument for this:

According to his criteria the XBONE is also the new Virtual Boy. The only difference is that it has third party support.

Really?

While he says baterries are bad, the Xbox One controllers last for a long time, and don't need to be replaced for a couple of day of total gametime.

Expensive technology I'll give you that, but it's not rushed. 360 was rushed.

The One has way more games out for it in the same time frame (5 months) compared to the Wii U, had way more launch games, and will always have 3rd party support.

So besides Expensive technology, and maybe batteries, you are wrong.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

Tell me one decent game out for XBONE right now. Oh and it needs to be exclusive(according to Game Theory that is).

Like I said, Wii U doesn't suffer from poor battery life as well. Just play the Wii U pro controller or plug in your Gamepad while playing. I rarely game for 5 hours straight anyway, so my Gamepad doesn't run out that much. Like I said, the Wii mote's battery life is much more annoying and that didn't stop the Wii from selling like crazy. In fact, everything he said about the Wii U can also be applied to the Wii except the price.

Wii mote --> consums a lot of batteries

Expensive and rushed technology --> just look at how much better the wii motion plus was that got released later in the Wii's lifecycle.

Wii U isn't rushed either. Wii's sales were dropping fast, just like XBOX360's sales were dropping fast(but not as fast as Wii's sales). It just so happened that Wii's sales dropped earlier than XBOX360's sales. That's why the Wii U was released sooner than XBONE. The reasoning why Game Theory calls Wii U rushed is because of the expensive Gamepad technology. Well Kinect technology is also expensive and would be cheaper in a couple of years. I agree that his reasoning is just wrong here, but I'm using it to make a point.

The number one reason Wii U failed to sell was because of poor advertisement and higher price than the original Wii. Although the price is now ok in my opinion.

Wii U has already sold nearly five times what Virtual Boy sold LIFETIME.

It's not nearly as bad as the VB, but I do agree that Nintendo has made a lot of the same mistakes with Wii U.

There's no way the Wii U can be two consoles at once. The GameCube has already claimed the Wii U as it's offspring.

You do realize the Wii U needs two parents to be born.  GameCube is its mom and Virtual Boy its dad.

It's dad is the Wii, however it came out to be a complete screw up compared to dad. They even named it after daddy.

Clickbait bollocks as usual, how people can come up with new ways to put down the Wii U day after day for over a year now is beyond me. The virtual boy could only dream of selling 6 million units. Again utter bollocks.

Oh there is so much i disagree with in this video.

-Battery Life - Yes it is bad, but also isnt similar to Virtual Boy and disposable batteries.

- Launch Games -  Clearly WAY better than Virtal Boy's and also way better games overall.  Funny how he mentions that a lot of the games WiiU had was on previous platforms while also mentioning PS4 sold 5.3m in 4 months......uhm yeah, it seems a lot of ps4's library was out before PS4 and on top of that you can get the majority of PS4 games on another platform.

- Cost -  he talks about low cost and hidden costs......like PS4/XBO doesnt have hidden costs.....XBL/PS+, games, etc.  But that is ok we're just going to ignore that.

About the only things i agree with is Nintendo's lack of third party support and them sacrificing graphics for a tablet that has yet to show much relevance.  Thereis reasons that Nintendo's competitors are in a better situation, and there is reasons Nintendo is in the situation theyre in, but this video did not explain them.  In fact most people already know the reasons by this point.

This video deserves

That is being too generous.

I'm not going to watch that much senseless blabbering.

It's a blatant lie in the first place. The Virtual Boy was impractical and hurt people's eyes. It was being returned to stores for refunds on a large scale.

Nothing like that has happened with the Wii U.

A high percentage of people who have actually used/own a Wii U are very happy with the product. I think its biggest problem is the internet, it gives people like this a chance to have their senless blabbering in the public eye.
