gaming would be dead, sega was to weak to take a good fight with nintendo and sony wouldnt have made the psone, they just would supply the cds for nintendo.

Spyro and Crash would have still been on PlayStation.

What else?

I guess devs would say the PS1 can't handle their games since their making N64 games...

You also need to understand Nintendo were like Nanzi's to 3rd parties compared to sony at the time. Why do you think even today they still do ot trust nintendo?

That didn't stop SNES from getting great 3rd party support, did it?

Snes was not out when PS1 was out.

also snes did not take europe. Megadrive did. Each console had its own games. PS1 stole 3rd parties from both.

intendo was the hitler of the gaming world. They saved it so they thought they could do what they want. FF7 did not go the PlayStation because nintendo were so nice. and if you believe the sory about disks vs carts for 1 2nd you are silly.

So do u think even if N64 used CDs that 3rd parties would have all jumped shipped?

The partnership thing still would have happened. Just in this scenario Nintendo decided to make N64 read disk instead of cartidges to keep third parties.

Apparently.

lets be straight, if N64 used CD instead, Playstation wouldnt exist. And Nintendo would be dominant in home console, I am sure that MS would not stand a chance if this happened :)

I think its kinda rediculous to think that, they didnt all flock to Sega Genesis despite have a 2 year head start and less restrictions.

Read my other post, from this same page.

Sony and Nintendo would likely have been more competitive, but Sony probably would still have won. Playstation was established by the time N64 launched. Sony was better at establishing partnerships with 3rd parties (Especially EA, Square, and Namco) and marketing.

I don't see any scenario where Nintendo could have delivered a knockout blow to both Sega and Sony in the same generation. It wasn't in anyone's interest besides Nintendo for N64 to have a monopoly.

Lifetime Sales Prediction - 6/29/2013
Wii U - 38 million
XBOX One - 88 million
Playstation 4 - 145 million

N64 would have a lot more games and about 25+ Million sales. It probably would have cost a lot more, too.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

If the N64 had CDs, the competition wouldn't have been close. What hurt the console the most was the shitty ports due to limitations of the format, high price (Some N64 games cost me EIGHTY DOLLARS), third party support (again due to some games having being impossible to port.

You look at the N64 version of games vs. the PS1 versions--the graphics were often better and felt more solid while the PS1 versions were flickering messes but when you put them side by side, the PS1 version would have CGI cutscenes (a huge deal at the time), more voices, more music tracks or announcers, lower price, and sometimes more content. It made the N64 versions seem like they were incomplete. Meanwhile the PS1 version would cost $39 and the N64 version was costing $49-$79

The only downside to having CDs on the N64 would be increased loading time (which some carts STILL had) and the fact that ice cream would start tasting like chicken and cats would bark. Don't ask me how. It just would.
