Forums - Sony Discussion - Future of Sony? 1.1 Billion dollar loss.

If only the invested more on saving the vita so that they would have had tons of money coming in from both the ps4 and the vita... That 1.1 billion loss still would be rough but least they would be getting more money coming in but instead, most of their money will be coming from the ps4 and mobile which is too bad... I know the vita is still making them money, specially with the new over-priced LCD version at Europe but they would have made more if they didn't abandon it

Sorry but bwahahahaha, you don't seriously believe that, do you?

Sony is doomed. Did someone allready say that?

The 1.1b loss on paper looks bad (what you all are calling doom/gloom) but what they are doing is financially beneficial. If they don't cut their losses with Vaio now, or restructure the TV business they will lose MORE than the 1.1b. This is why Sonys shares have been raising, think of the long term rather than the short term.

$ 1,1 billion in losses.........5.000 employees fired....... Closing their PC division........wow.....
that´s A LOT. I means, it´s just too much......... It´s even waaay steeper than Nintendo losses.

Reengineering is urgent at Sony. Let´s just hope they do their reestructuring right and not harm the videogame division. Still I have the feeling that even the videogame division may suffer someway

I really don't know where a company that is supposed to be "broke and have no money" gets over a billion dollars to lose from.

They go into debt, of course. They already have total current liabilities of 127 billion (though of course they have sellable assets as well)

Sony is a mess. Right now they are going to downsize + sell one or two divisions.
It will help them in a short term but I do not see any bright future for them.

Right now they are bleeding money even with the help of the PS4 launch. Now just imagine the next quarter, the revenue from PS4 will go down for sure and then what? They will come up with another plan and continue to lose investors money.

Best option for everybody would be to have Samsung or someone else buying them and maybe keep few divisions alive (like the gaming one as the Playstation brand is very valuable). They also need to get right of that clown CEO...

Do you have a sense of how money they are losing and what the gaming division is bringing to the table? Sony is bleeding money in general and having a good gaming division (good results at least) is not going to save them unfortunatly, even if the PS4 is doing extremely well, it is just one division...

I never said it will save them... All I said is that it would help them... If a company is losing this much money, any additional income from any devision will help but since they didn't make the vita a success, it wont help at all but if they did, it would have helped at least a bit more than its doing now
