Forums - Gaming - Nintendo's Problems are it's Fanboys!

http://www.gameinformer.com/blogs/members/b/residenthazard_blog/archive/2013/09/23/nintendo-39-s-biggest-problem.aspx

Or so this article says... It seems that the problem was it's fanbase all along! Bah just get rid of it, maybe that way Nintendo will sell more hardware.

I will post the first part, if you guys are interested keep reading but it's a long article!

Nintendo’s Single Biggest Problem

"When I was a kid, I could have possibly been considered a Nintendo fanboy.  However, even firmly entrenched in the Nintendo camp, I was still a huge admirer of other games and consoles, particularly Sega.  I had long admired and wanted the TurboGrafx-16 and Neo-Geo AES as well, and the first games I played were on the Atari 2600—so you can tell I’ve been doing this for a while.  I was never solely interested in anything Nintendo did, as I was fascinated by all gaming.  Sometime around my teen years, during the Playstation-N64 years, my pseudo-fanboyism started to die off.  For a while, I actually lost interest in video games (it wasn’t a very long while), and for a part of this time, I bought my first non-Nintendo console—the original Playstation.  Largely, because of Tekken 3.  These days, I am a collector, a developer, and beyond thrilled to be a “gamer” rather than a fanboy.  I will always defend any company that is receiving unwarranted attacks, be it Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft—Sega, Capcom, etc.  Though I will not deny that I have a soft spot for the Nintendo and their intriguing weirdness."

Then why'd you share it

The conclusion seems OK.

Some people might find something worth in it! You shouldn't mind my words, I'm a delusional fanboy.

he makes very good points. i didnt read everything though, skipped a couple of parts here and there.
it's very loooong but well written. kudos to him!

Correction, Nintendo's problems are it's fanmen.

The writer certainly did put a lot of work into it so I'll read the rest later.

i know i'm a fanboy and all but did he really just compare ZeldaHd remake to ico/gow collection remake and call that a valid criticism? wtf he's a flaming sony fanboy.

FROM THE ARTICLE: Here’s an example of a valid criticism: “$50 is too much for any HD remake, especially when Sony gave us HD sets with multiple games for $40 on the PS3.”

just look at the gamecube price on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/sch/Video-Games-/139973/i.html?_from=R40&_sop=15&LH_BIN=1&_nkw=wind+waker+gamecube&_dcat=139973&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=2750

and then check out the ps2 ico price...

http://www.ebay.com/sch/Video-Games-/139973/i.html?_from=R40&LH_BIN=1&_sop=15&LH_ItemCondition=2750&_nkw=ico&_dcat=139973&Platform=Sony%2520PlayStation%25202&rt=nc

So aside from the fact that Windwaker is more valuable than the ps2 sets.   There was also more done to Celda than just adapting to HD such as gameplay enhancements, altered quests, added gamepad features... Clearly this article is written from someone that is not impartial.

I'll make a summary of the article for you guys!

The main problem seems to be that Nintendo fans don't buy enough third party support. That gives the signal to third parties that Nintendo's systems are not a platform where they should make games.

He also says that buying a Nintendo console for Nintendo games alone is being a close minded person. He also seems to dislike Pokemon, Mario and Zelda and enjoys third party games on Nintendo's systems. He is kind of an odd ball if you ask me.

In conclusion he thinks that Nintendo's current situation is not by Nintendo itself but because of it's fanboys.
