Technology is moving fast. We have new smartphones and tablets every year, so how is the PS4 going to stay relevant? How is it going to survive as other systems get better and better graphics?

It's going to start getting mid-gen graphic upgrades itself. Sony is going to release the PS4.1 or whatever it calls it with even better graphics than the PS4. Do you know what's going to blow your mind? The PS4 is forwards compatible with PS4.1 games!

How can that be? The secret is in the arm. http://www.redgamingtech.com/playstation-4-secondary-processor-2gb-ram-discovered/ Basically without getting too technical the PS4 has a brain and it has a brain-stem. The brain does all the big work, while the stem does a few little tasks. What I'm predicting is that over the course of the gen PS4 remodels will get improved brain stems freeing up even more of the brain to running games. At the same time the smarter brain stem can add more non gaming features and improve ui elements.

The PS4 can play PS4.1 games by going into a full on game dedication mode. Most features besides playing the actual game stop working. Using the XBONE as an analogy, it'd be like disabling snap in this mode. On the PS4.1 it has the smarter brain-stem to take over these tasks and keep all the non gaming features running. PS4.1 games are not going to look 10x better than PS4 games. Not even 5x better. I'm not crazy. It'll just be a relativly small graphical upgrade.

Let's use a chart in case I've managed to confuse my readers

  PS4 PS4.1
Can play PS4 games Yes Yes
Can play PS4.1 games Yes Yes
Can do all the non gaming stuff currently available while playing PS4 games Yes Yes
Can do all the non gaming stuff currently available while playing PS4.1 games No Yes
Can do a bunch of new non gaming stuff while playing PS4 games No Yes
Can do a bunch of new non gaming stuff while playing PS4.1 games No Yes
Can play PS4.2 games Yes Yes
Can do all the non gaming stuff currently available while playing PS4.2 games No No
Can do a bunch of new non gaming stuff while playing PS4.2 games No No

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

This doesnt sound like something likely to happen.

It's possible, but i doubt its worth the hassle.

Why not? People who like watching netflix and going online while playing games will be forced to upgrade every few years. It's a money machine!

If I wanted to do non-gaming stuff I would buy an XB1.

edit: actually I wouldnt, I would use my PC instead.

That factors in, but the core of the prediction is about this: http://www.redgamingtech.com/playstation-4-secondary-processor-2gb-ram-discovered/

Upgrade that secondary chip/brain-stem while leaving the main components alone. I'll modify the op to better explain what the brain-stem is.

I would like this to happen but I don't have much hope. Seeing how people miraculously are still content with last gen consoles I don't see any incentive for Sony to do this. But we can still dream.
