Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo’s new headquarters construction is underway

Unlike Sony who has had to sell headquarters in order to make ends meet, Nintendo is in the process of building an entirely new headquarters to house their unified console and handheld engineer departments. This new building will replace the old building and has a capacity of 1,500 people and after it’s built, will cost a whopping 16.5 billion yen, which equals out to about $204 million USD. The building has been under construction since 2012, and Nintendo hopes to have it completed in 2014.

A unified console and handheld division may mean we see more compatibility between Nintendo consoles and handhelds in the future.

If you had to continuously worry about Godzilla, you'd go for pure functionality as well.

Took the words right out of my mouth, for $200m it's not very special looking is it.

Looks kind of small to fit 1,500 people. But I guess that's the power of the cube.

I agree. It hardly looks like the center of the gaming universe. It looks more like a vault. Maybe they just want something sturdy to keep all those extra yen in.

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

how dare they expand in a time when their president volentarily cuts his own salary in half. Iwata should resign immediately!
