Probably 8th gen. But it isn't exactly set in stone. As long as it gets a multiplatform game with PS4/XB1 that isn't also on PS360, and isn't replaced in the next 2 years by NIntendo, then it definitely is.

That isn't really how it works, but if you want to use that see:  Project C.A.R.S.

I think those 2 requirements are a pretty good way to judge the generation. When this game comes out the debate should be over, as I can't see the Wii U being replaced any time soon.

Wii U is 6th gen. 6th Nintendo console. They're on their own terms.

I always say "el Wii U" and  "el XBox", but I say "la Playstation". I don't know why I do that, I just noticed about it when I read your post.

Is a good topic to discuss in the spanish thread, are the consoles refered to as male or female? you can join it here:

My brother's actually part of my parent's generation because he still says groovy and won't own a cell phone or use the internet. He was born in the 90's though. Still only plays his NES. He's so last gen.

If you make 2 suits on the same day and put a 20 year old in one of them and a 40 year old in the other, it doesnt mean they are from the same generation.

The gullible do not see the person, only the suit.

Bad analogy.

It should be two twenty year olds, one in brand new suit, one in kinda beat up suit.

Bad because you didnt get it.

Let me just explain it clearly....

A robots generation is classified by its technical ability, however some generations of robots will be sufficient for certain tasks and will be manufactured alongside robots of a higher generation. Just because they will be manufactured on the same day, it doesnt mean they will be the same generation.

Surely it makes more sense to use the context of a robot generation than a human generation considering consoles are machines.

Still bad since Wii U is more powerful than the previous generation.

yet much weaker than PS4/XBONE, making it last gen.

Its obviosuly an 8th gen system and will be remembered as one.

Whoever doesnt consider Wii U next-gen also cant consider PS4 and X1 next-gen, cause they are also marginal upgrades to current gen in the grand scheme.

Hate to say this, but the only platform that will get true next gen in the sense of incredibly detailed graphics like we never have seen is the PC, cause its a platform without bounds.

I think the Wii U has no sexuality at all!

Funny story, in spanish all worlds (almost all) have a gender, so you can translate THE Wii U, as:

La Wii U (femenine)

El Wii U (masculine)

I personally always use the male gender for ALL consoles, but I had heard both usages

I always say "el Wii U" and  "el XBox", but I say "la Playstation". I don't know why I do that, I just noticed about it when I read your post.

Its not that important. Since its an object and doesnt have a clear meaning you can call it a masculine or a feminine. In portuguese i call them all feminine, but i could call them masculine aswell and wouldnt be essentially wrong. It would just sound a bit on the brazillian side.

edit: Meh... got distracted and double posted.

It is a current-gen console, just like the Playstation 4

7th gen console that sells like it's 6th gen console.
