Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why are some Nintendo fans so opposed to going third party?

Change and nintendo.... it takes 10 times the amount of time for it to happen there.

Because Nintendo is profitibale even with their low home console hardware sales, I'm sick of this stupid arguement.

Well then I'd have to buy Sony consoles, which tend to cost more.

For instance, if I had instead bought a Vita when I bought my 3DS, I would have spent $80 more on hardware -- that's two full retail games. I haven't bought a Wii U yet, but of course at the moment the PS4 costs $100 more than the Wii U.

Hell, I bet I spent less than $600 on my launch Wii and all of the Wii games I own together.

But you'd be getting your money's worth with power and 3rd party support.

How much of that extra 3rd-party support could I afford after paying hundreds of dollars more for the console?

Let me tell you what 3DS retail games I own right now: Kid Icarus Uprising, Pokemon Y, Zelda Link Between Worlds, Monster Hunter 3G, and Shin Megami Tensei IV. The Vita cost $80 more than the 3DS when I bought mine, the cost of two 3DS games. Guess which two of the aforementioned games I would axe from my collection, if I had to make such a choice before even buying them?

Simple: because consoles are integral part of their business.

If Nintendo goes third party any day, it will be through partnership with another company for a new device and NOT simply as a developer for other companies machines

I may hint that they´re already preparing themselves for that.

And your hint is based on?

I maybe just a rumor, but remember that Nintendo had concepts and projects of motion controls, user avatars (miis) , online content distribution and online gaming since early 80´s.

They´re probably experimenting with tablet gaming or something else right now.

I think that's been proven to be fake...?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Because Nintendo make consoles with more interesting interfaces and lower price points than their competitors.

just imagine how revolutionary and amazing Wii Sports would have been with this

Lol Purple your op is so bad lol. You mention 3D World being outsold by Knack like that wasn't only in the UK lol. Might I also add that as long as Micro and Sony fail to beat Nintys handhelds...they will never go 3rd party.

I know it was a bit of a stretch, but Mario being outsold by Knack on a platform that's been out a year longer in Europe's largest market is definitely a concern. I was using it just to show the market for that type of game is there on Sony consoles and if Knack (average at best) can sell so well, Nintendo are missing a trick limiting themselves to the Wii U.

The 3DS's relative success does make things more complicated. Especially considering Sony requires Vita remote play for all PS4 games so that would never happen.. but the 3DS at its peak hasn't been able to cover the costs of the Wii U over the last year so something will need to change.

Nintendo doesn't do well on other people's terms

Why no mention of 3DS at all? Purple this only makes you look like a Ninty troll, you do realize this right? Whether you like it or not, there handhelds lead the market and that's without Nintys full support. Hell a smartphone is more likely than 3rd party.

Nobody could still yet prove that. As I said, it´s just a rumor. But, considering how uncertain is the future of consoles, this shouldn´t be surprising for anyone
