Forums - Sony - Knack is pretty fun

Yep, I said it.  I'm really enjoying Knack.  Don't get me wrong, the story is pretty lame filled with predictability and plot holes, but the gameplay is really fun and rewarding.  It's difficult, but not crushingly difficult, just hard enough that you have to strategize and change your approach.  The game also looks pretty good.  What's most impressive is the scaling.  Knack will grow throughout a stage and the game mechanics, environments, enemies, etc are all built to cater to this new size.  The gameplay is very fluid and the controls remind me a bit of God of War, especially with the automatic camera and using the right stick to dodge.

Outside of the weak story my only other gripe is that the game froze on me a couple times in stage 8-4, causing me to have to hard reset my PS4.  Haven't had this problem with any other game, so I'm assuming it will be fixed in a patch.

Anybody else enjoying this game?  I'd give it a solid 7.

you are JoeTheBro alt confirmed?!

No... NO! You are NOT allowed to say that!

I'm in line with you. It's not great, but definitely fun. It reminds me a ton of the Lego series and Crash.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

It is a fine game that does nothing mind blowing, but I enjoyed the mechanics and found it is only hard if you rush into areas. Identify your enemies, separate them and pick them off one at a time. I always go for ranged enemies first as can sneak hit you. It reminds me a lot of games like the original Sly Cooper (level design is not as good though) that were unforgiving, but had check points and never felt unfair. Should note if you play with another like I am doing second player will feel like they are second fiddle in terms of camera positioning and how game reacts to "silver Knack". Think of it as playing as Tails in Sonic 2.

I get why no one is raving about it, but as a platformer fan I am happy with my purchase.

Im having fun with it. First play on hard, it keeps you thinking about how to handle each area you go into.

Actually it is, and it has decent challenge.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

I agree, it's a nice bright colorful game, quite challenging too now and then. I bought it to play with my kids, then I caught myself playing it on my own at night. Solid 7 is right.
