I mean, look at the way it uses the 3D in a 2D platformer context.  The multilayers with the enemies that push you off.  I honestly believe that Nintendo might have just blatently copied and indie e-shop game.

Actually that was also on Donkey Kong Country Returns! And that came in 2010!

They already did that back in the original New Super Mario Bros for the DS, and that's a 2006 release.

To embed a video you have to scroll down in the youtube page to the part where it says: "Share" you have to make sure to use the old embed code!

Then you use a Rich Text Reply and select the HTML button. You copy and paste the old embed code and hit update! And there you go!

If you're referring to moving from foreground to background, the first time I seen that was in 1995 in either Mario Clash or Wario Land for the Virtual Boy.

There are a ton of games on the NES that did this.

They ripped off Art of Fighting on the Neo Geo
