This falls into the same problem Nintendo has. They are dependent on their consoles to make or break the companies at this point.

Sony will be OK, as the PS4 will be very successful this next 12-18 months for sure.
The difference being that Sony had to sell their two largest office buildings for about $2 Billion so that they could afford to launch the PS4 and Nintendo is sitting on about $14 Billion in cash.  If the PS4 does as well as the PS3 and the Wii U only does as well as the Gamecube, unless something big was to happen, Nintendo would still be sitting in a much healthier financial position.  If the Wii U stopped selling today and Nintendo re-structured, they would still be better off than Sony is.

Not debating you thought other than Nintendo has 3 Billion in cash not 14.  I think if you do the conversions , it's 3.  I could be wrong though.

It is near the end of the end....

game division only posted 800million Yen loss, which is about an 8million $ loss. So very small.

The reason I go back to TV and Mobile is because those are the 2 divisions I can see sony struggling in.

I think there is less worry on the Mobile Division since it seems to be in an up swing but that TV division, dear God. Its like what 9 years now of bleeding? I think they should really do something drastic (like cut it off) or that division will kill Sony as a whole.

This is kinda scary. Hope the PS4 is the home run that Sony needs to save that sinking ship.

Sony will have a good hoilday

£6.7/$10.5 billion.  If you believe this article article from June last year.

I recommend on buying stock right now. Its at a good price and will at least hit 20 again before anything bad can happen.

Yeh I've been saying that too. Can't see them going much lower, maybe when Q4 is bad. But let's hope not because that's not going to be good for sony

yeh they need to do something about that.

Mobile is questionable. They are still losing money even after the big push in there. Maybe their positive trend continues and they'll post a profit in Q4

Not looking good for Sony I'm afraid

Indeed.

But it are the TV and Mobile divisions that are really struggling. If they fail they can still go the panasonic way and let them go.

It wasnt because of the mobile division that they made a loss. It was also because of losses in gaming and sony pictures.

Sony highlighted this in there earnings report i believe.

I'm sure those $8M they lost in their gaming division made a massive impact...

The console itself might be at a loss, but didnt we here it takes like 1-2 games for it to become profitable? or 1 extra controller?

how many people are only going to buy 1 game?

It'll be profitable at 1 game I think it was. Add to that the PS+ subscription money.
