Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's latest survey wants to know what you think of online play

Some games you can't have much fun in local multiplayer compared to online. I don't think many people would prefer to play shooters like BF4 and Ghosts locally with friends compared to online...

Backlash? You mean the 10 people that complained?

i just got my new 3DS, apparently they ask a lot of new questions for the hardware (atleast in the European Club Nintendo), there was even a question that asked "before getting your 3DS XL, did you think about buying another system? and if so, which one is it?" and it showed a lot of options from PS3 to Xbox 360 to PC (primarily for games) to PSP to Vita and even PS4 and Xbox One.

That's probably true, but I think there is a silent group of video game players who really miss local multiplayer. And that includes shooters. Part of the reason I purchased Black Ops II for Wii U, for example, was for its local multiplayer features. I can only speak for myself, but I'd rather get a group of four or five friends together and play Call of Duty or Mario Kart or whatever in the same room. Split a pizza, have some beers, talk trash. I find it a lot more satisfying than going head to head with strangers online, many of whom say some pretty hateful things during each match, many of whom are poor teammates and poor sports.

Sure, without online multiplayer you can't play against the best and brightest in the world. And you can't connect with friends overseas or across state lines. But without local multiplayer you're stuck alone in your room facing off against mostly nameless and faceless strangers who have no real incentive to behave like good teammates, or good human beings for that matter.

Don't get me wrong, I love some local multiplayer. And out of the 3 companies, Nintendo is obviously the only one who loves local multiplayer as well. Super Smash Bros brawl is the greatest local multiplayer game of ALL TIME in my opinion.

But shooters are just weird locally. Call of duty can be decent because of the small maps, but could you imagine playing Battlefield locally? It'd just be awkward lol.

I hate the internet, please Nintendo remove the feature from future Mario Kart and Smash Brothers games. K. Thanx.

I voted a seven as I would love to play multi player Nintendo games online with random Joes any time I want. Nintendo should offer more from their games not less.

I don't care about online multiplayer in the slightest, and even barely about local multiplayer. I practically never play anything online, and if I play something locally it's a strategy game on PC or something.

Anyway it seems like the European Club Nintendo isn't having this survey (yet). So no easy Stars for me .

I have zero interest online and I never game online, but if I was presented the question. I would put down 7 because I know other people want it and like Basil said, it's 2014. This is an industry trend that Nintendo needs to start picking up on.

I think they should know that online multiplayer is very important in the market we have right now (I'm not interested at all but I'm not the whole market)
